Can i die with this ?

Sharkon

First Post
Imagine i am a lvl 18 wizard (or sorcerer or dread necromancer or something else). The first spell i cast on me is death ward (immune to death effects) and the second one is : persistent delay death (persistent metamagic at complete arcane). If i am not doing a mistake here suggest a way that my character can die

I haven't looked at those spells, as my game hasn't hit a high enough level yet. However, I would throw out the usual spells that undo such protections. First, would a nice high-level Dispel Magic undo the protections? If not, how about someone with an Antimagic Field on themselves coming up to your wizard and giving him a nice bear hug. The only way to outdo an Antimagic Field is (AFAIK) to have Extraordinary Abilities. Your spells are merely spells or SLAs, and thus should be rendered inert.

It might also be a decent application of a Wish -- not that you would use the Wish to kill a person, as that would duplicate a spell, and thus your protections might remain in force to block it. However, a wish like, "I Wish that arrows would bypass his protections," followed by screaming to a party of allies, "Shoot him," might work. I dunno. I'm thinking on my feet here.

Disintegrate

Dispel Magic ;)

Plus,

Ability Damage/Drain
Implosion spell (this spell is not a Death effect)
Glassstrike spell or some kind of Petrification, then destroyed
Assassin's Death Attack (Death Ward does not protect)
Vitriolic Blast (Warlock)
Devastating Critical (Epic Feat, but if your DM is using Draconomicon ..)
Death from Massive Damage
Suffocation
Starvation
Die by age
Effect of Positive Energy Plane

There would be more. But yeah, dispelling and anti-magic will be the usual answer to that kind of protection.

At that level, you must expect that many of your foes have CL 20 Greater Dispel Magic at will, or something worse.

Not to mention, even if you couldn't be killed, you still have no means to keep fighting once in the negatives, so you'd still fall unconscious. If you enemies are evil, they might even enjoy the fact they can bind and torture you without needing to worry about showing restraint to avoid actually killing you. Then of course, after 24 hours, you're still out of luck. :)

Even if you had Die Hard feat just to use with this trick, AFAIK, you could still be knocked out by nonlethal damage anyway. :)
