Can we stop cross-posting from RPG.net threads?

There has been an upsurge in threads here on ENWorld that reference other threads on RPG.net -- for example,

Balancing "RP" and "G"
Assess this chap's position (3.0 and older versions)

As a concerned ENWorld citizen, I'd like to see people stop cross-posting discussions from RPG.net threads. RPG.net has a very, very different feel than ENWorld. In fact, the reason I read ENWorld and not RPG.net is precisely to avoid the types of converations that take place over there.

So if you want to discuss RPG.net stuff, do it on RPG.net.

That is exactly why we need to discuss them here. The conversations are very different on the two boards so it is nice to take a topic that is interesting from there and get the perferred discussion over here. Just like people dom the same with EN world threads over there.

I agree in general, but the above thread, the poster did mention that the RPGnet thread had drifted to a systemwars thread, and wanted actually discussion on the topic, as it relates to D&D. I can support that; seeing it as a spinoff rather than a repeat or crosspost.

While I think Joshua may be jumping the gun a bit--I agree that two links doesn't count as an upsurge--I have to back him on his overall position.

I do not want to see ENWorld become even a little bit more like RPG.net. As he said, there's a reason a lot of us practically live here, but don't post there very often.

If you want to open up the same topic here, that's fine, but let's minimize the linkage, okay?

I like to cross-post ideas (I don't do it to EN World that often, though) because I like to see how opinions and ideas differ.

You'll likely get a different set of advice on a variety of boards, and if someone has a good question on another board, I don't see why you'd avoid seeing answers from an EN Worlder.

Exactly. Which is why I occasionally cross-post; I get very different feedback on the two locations.

What exactly is "rpg.net stuff?" General discussion on what to do with my game is an equally valid discussion topic here or there.

Oh, I'm fine with that. You think the link was Joshua's problem?

Although it does feel repetitive, I happen to like reading the cross-posted threads. EN World is far from exclusive and having a wide range of opinions on topics that appear on both sites is often refreshing.
