Can you counter Dispel Magic?

I was thinking about casting Dispel Magic into a Ring of Counterspells, so that if someone tries to dispel any buffs I might have his Dispel Magic will be countered. Is this possible?

One tried and true way to counter dispel magic is to depend on your wits and strategy rather than a lot of spells. The wizard casting dispel magic will feel quite foolish when he casts dispel magic only to find it has no effect. In the meantime, other members of your party have more spells to keep you alive (healing) and destroy the bad guys.

No it would not. The ring of counterspells only works on the Same spell Vs Same spell countering system. The successes is guaranteed. But that Dispel Magic in the ring could never touch any other spell, even Greater Dispel.

Should read up on the ring of counterspells...

"Instead, should that spell ever be cast upon the wearer, the spell is immediately countered, as a counterspell action, requiring no action (or even knowledge) on the wearer’s part. "

No check needed...when used from the ring.

Note that it will only work against a targeted dispel, not an area dispel.

Is it possible to counter Dispel Magic with Dispel Magic normally without the ring? Or would I need to roll my dispel check in that case?
