Can you critical on a eldritch blast?

As a warlock I'd be all over point blank, improved crit, and weapon (spell? spell-like?) focus. I'd also argue for farshot, not to extend the effective range but to decrease the range-based penalty but that'd be a house rule.

PB Shot, Precise Shot and Improved Precise Shot are very nice for the Warlock. Far Shot simply doesn't apply, since there is no range-based penalty (or was your houserule to put one in?). The Blast goes 60'; it doesn't have a 60' range increment. Mind you, Eldritch Spear extends that to 250', which is far enough for most purposes.

Of course, the Warlock doesn't (as I recall?) have any bonus feats, so he's going to have a helluva time picking this stuff up.

No bonus feats, but the first two regular feats are well put into point blank and precise shot, as he's practically an archer (the real arcane archer, if you want).

Yup. Limited skill points, limited invocations, and limited feats (and since one of your main abilities doesn't work if you don't have an item creation feat, that takes up at least one slot right there). But I guess that is the price you pay for being the energizer bunny of the arcane world. :)

At 12th level a Warlock can make magic items without having access to the spells needed. My guess is that most warlocks that level will take "scribe scroll" as it is _so_ helpful to have.

A warlock of 12th level or higher can creat magic items, even if he deson't know the spells required to make the item. She must know the appropriate item creation feat.

I personally see this as a way of keeping warlocks competitive at high levels. But perhaps it is debatable whether this is a "main power" of the warlock. I think it is, but others may disagree and decide it is not worth spending a feat to be able to use this power at all.

I won't but strictly for metagaming reasons -- my DM is freaking out enough about my "overpowered" character. He has nerfed away my light armor and my Flee the Scene now only affects myself. If he saw me making scrolls of any arcane spell whatsoever his head would spin around and he would puke pea soup on me. So I will go the Create Wondrous Item route, for the sheer variety of things, and stay away from making wands, staffs and scrolls.

Ah, have overread that.

I wouldn't really call it a main ability, but then I'm not particularly into making magic items. The scoll thing sounds nice, though (this way you can guarantee access to all those spells you might need but don't have in the party).

Yup.

That's explicitly how delivering a touch spell with an unarmed strike was treated in Tome and Blood, and thus implicitly how a spell-storing weapon behaves.

I'm not sure if this has been updated/clarified/changed/whatever in Complete Arcane...?

Yes, they have confirmed the rule in the C.Arc.
