Can you do this?

Ok, with a DC 19 save a 12th level fighter has a +4 base Will save. Assuming this is somehow modified to +8 (Wis + Magic) that still gives a resaonable chance of the stun working? If it doesn't the Monk should be able to get far enough away to limit his opponent to one attack if at all.

The Stunning Fist ability has a Fortitude save, not a Will save if I remember correctly.

If I was the Monk I'd use my increased move to run away. :D

Well, there are alot of good reasons to play a monk. You may not hit much, and thereby not be a melee powerhouse, but it is a very survivable class. Of my group, I have the second highest ac (38) and have died the least of anyone else (we rotate out DM's, who are seriously "killer DM's")

Great saves coupled with SR and improved evasion make me practically immune to spells, and great movement coupled with feats that take advantage of it mean I am almost never near the "juiciest" (i.e. crowded) attack zones. And monks are the ultimate answer to int casters (stunning blow real usefull there).

Did I mention that poison(any) and disease(natural) immunity are pretty darn handy too?

All in all, if you are looking for character durability, a monk is one of the best ways you can go. Even if you won't be responsible for splooking the most creatures, more often than not you will be the guy who ends up saving the party from disaster.

Can he move in to attack as part of his Spring Attack action, use his Stunning attack and if successful decide not to move back out of the combat.

I think you have to move as part of the spring attack. I mean you move then attack then move again. It is all part of the feat.
