D&D 5E (2014) "You Can Do 3 Things" - My Nephew's D&D Houserule

It's not really 5e. They've created their own different game that's better for them. If they keep applying comparable creative energy to abilities and spells as they gain them they will probably keep having a game that works better for them. If they try to mix some stricter adherence to 5e rules into their game as their character abilities become more complicated it will likely break down a bit.

I'm not sure I agree. 5E D&D is more than just its action economy.

Okay this I agree with. They haven't really gone down that road yet but who knows? They're kids; they have really strong "nah that's boring, let's do this instead" energy when they play games, so with enough time and motivation they could accidentally help write 6E if they happen to play within earshot of a game dev.

On the other hand, they're just as likely to drop D&D all together and play soccer instead. Either way, I can't keep up.
