"Canon," "Official" - Obsolete with d20?

Nightfall, where can I get in on these arguements (which I hope are just debates - people turn the latter into the former all too often)? ;)

I guess he refers to the wizards.com boards, especially the FR section, where some people are quite stingy as to what is canon (AD&D2e) and what is not (anything that contradict AD&D2e).

The funniest of them was Silverthrone (the man who said Tolkien's letters on the Middle Earth were not canon for the Middle Earth, and neither was the Silmarilion, because they were published after JRR's death).

Oi gevalt...even I think that's taking it too far.

Hmm, almost sound like my kind of people, save for the obviousness that a new edition trumps an old one hands down. :p ;)
 


Gez missed out on the "Is Orcus a god" spiel in the FR boards. (Some people believe that he's listed in the Monstrous Deities by mistake. I say otherwise.)
