Can't downlaod Playtest (Bad Request - Invalid URL; Error 400)

It's a law of life, the more you protect something from piracy, the more desirable it becomes the pirate version. Just remember the audio CD's in the mid 90s that instaled a nasty program on your computer when you played them, or the software that gets bloated with lots of digital locks that increases system requirements. Or the WotC decision to stop publishing supplements on pdf. All anti-piracy measures just end up punishing the honest consumers and are moot anyway, the biggest piracy sources don't come from paying customers that decided "to share", but rather from inside leaks.

If you've already registered for the playtest and signed the agreement then just google it and get the file elsewhere right now.

I am not advocating that you obtain the file before you've signed the playtest agreement. But if you signed it earlier today and are just waiting for a download link now, it doesn't matter how you get the file. It's not piracy.

I downloaded it elsewhere after they told me to wait 30-60 minutes so I haven't even run into these problems, lol.

I wonder how many people casually interested in the playtest and given up on it entirely because of this issue.

I bet alot. My firend Kurt has been the most vocal of us trying 5e, at 10:30 this morning he tried to down load it... at 2pm he went to work, and has asked us others to keep trying... every txt he sends is more and more feed up...

Yup, I may just give up for awhile. Disappointed, it's supposed to rain here for a couple of days. IT, frankly, isn't this hard, as those of us in IT know...

Their IT just plan blows! I have worked in IT before and when you are expecting crap loads of traffic you get prepared. No wonder Paizo is doing so much better than they are.

Like Blizzard did for Diablo 3? Or Activision with Call of Duty Elite? or EA with Battlefield 3?

These companies are all way, way bigger than WotC and are all tech-companies with tons of experience handling peak servers loads and they all still got their butts kicked at launch.

Or go try to get on Best Buy or Amazon on Boxing Day, or when the PS3/Wii/Xbox360 launched, they all failed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy/impressed by this and the sad thing is that the illegal method is far easier than the legal one.

I just don't have it in me to go to these torrent sites. Even if this seems like a legitimate use - I don't want to install their download stuff.

Oh, don't fall for ads that say "direct download" or some such nonsense.

What you want is a third party torrent client like utorrent. Not "their download stuff."

Torrents have lots of great legal uses. There's all sorts of free and legal content to download with torrent software.

Just do a google search for "legal torrents" and you'll find all sorts of great music, books, etc., that people have made. Even some TV shows that are legal and free.

In Australia and having the same problem. At least the download link is spinning now, instead of just timing out like it was before. I feel like I'm making progress!:o

I think they may have just fixed it. I was loading multiple windows at a time, and the final three of my last batch all opened.

13 hours to get through and download a 5 MB file in 10 seconds. Yeah, there was issues....
