I was just wondering if this book is worth the purchase or if the $35.00 is to high a price tag for the book? Plus, are there any reviews of this book anywhere?
Canting Crew: is it worth the purchase?

I was lucky enough to have the pre publication manuscript of THE CANTING CREW. It is an excellent sourcebook for a Game Master who wants to create an immersive role-playing environment featuring thieves and rogues.
NOTE: I sometimes write with Gary and I'm involved in writing a sourcebook for TLG’s Gygaxian Fantasy World series.

It is in no way, shape or form worth the initial cost. Poor layout, inconsistant mapping, and other issues make this worth about $20-$25. Note, the physical product itself, hardcover with map, is great but internal use is poor.

From what I've seen of it, I like it however at the same time, I wouldn't buy it for several reasons.
The type is SO large and the spacing is huge making the page count... well... not so grande. The paper used is also of low quality so the price-tag isn't really justified.
The content, much like the World Builder, is informative but very dry (although much less so than the World Builder) and lacks any 'crunchy' bits. Quite frankly, this would've been better off having been published as a GURPS sourcebook as I think they would've done a better job of editing and layout.
That said, all the above was only garnered from a flip-through at the LGS about three months ago so take it with a grain of salt.

I purchased The Canting Crew when it was first released and still use it when I work on my campaign (when I get the chance). I think that it is useful across a wide variety of gaming systems, not just 3rd edition D&D and Lejendary Adventure (as it is written for). I still hope to have a chance to introduce some Cant into my game.
