I was wondering who scooped that up before I could.

Someone mentioned Leading Comics in Edmonton. Do they sell used material, or new material?

He's a used comic, book, and vinyl dealer. Low prices to buy, and he gives a decent price (given his selling point) when he buys. Go in this week and you'll see some more of my comics on the shelf.

I know that he does occassionaly get 3e books in; he had a MM that I would've bought if I hadn't heard the revised edition announcement the day before.

The point of this message was that there's now a third Warp store in the Millwoods Town Centre; I went there Saturday - the prices are marked up about the same as at Warp 2 (i.e. slightly less than Warp 1), but the store's tiny and thus has minimal selection. Also, it's in Millwoods, so it's not really convienient to anyone in any other part of the city.

The Sentry Box is the only thing I miss about living in Calgary. (well, the radio stations were good too.)

I used to have a file at Warp 1, but mostly for comics. I've even still got the card; I don't think it does anything anymore though. Daryll's a money-grubbing pirate and his ideas of how to run a retail business are insane. Even at cover I wouldn't enjoy shopping there, especially now that they moved into the smaller area and have everything in those stupid bloody drawers instead of on shelves. Warp 2's actually an enjoyable shopping experience (except for the prices.)

The Sentry Box

They're pretty big, friendly people, lots of stuff and room to play. One could not ask for more from a game store. We're lucky, lucky people here in Calgary.

You didn't say "lucky" enough times. The Sentry Box isn't a gaming store, it's the gaming store.

Here in Medicine Hat, AB, we have a pretty good FLGS:
Reader's Bookshop
105 1501 Dunmore Rd SE T1A 1Z8
(403) 528-9474

Charlottetown, PEI:

The Comic Hunter, on Univeristy Avenue just past Kent Street. Pretty good selection, some strange prices now and then, but pleasant enough folk. They do a lot of stuff beyond gaming too (comics mostly, but anime, and related toys).

Lightning Bolt Comics, just before Grafton Street and Queen Street. I've been in there twice, so I can't speak longterm. I've always been fairly disappointed with their gaming selection, although their comic selection is decent. Big play area, unfortunately a lot of brats hang out there to my knowledge.

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON:

Someone already mentioned Nexus Games and Hobbies, but I wanted to add some stuff. Their prices are a bit high, and the people who work there really only seem to notice you if you're looking for Warhammer stuff, but at least one guy has been trying to learn some rpg stuff in the last half year or so, probably because of...

Yggdrassil Games, King Street just north of Univeristy Avenue. A surprisingly good gaming selection considering the store size, and the owner is generally real easy to deal with about special orders. Great prices on most everything, and the owner doesn't mind chatting with customers about gaming trends and reviews.

Gemini Jetpack, across the street from Yggdrassil. This place mostly deals with anime, but they have some WotC and Mongoose stuff too. A lot of CCG/Clix action here as well.

J&J Cards and Comics, Weber Street just south of University Avenue. Big store, kind of mediocre selection considering its size. All but one employee are clueless about upcoming gaming releases in my experience, and their prices often reflect their cluelessness.

Deja Games, downtown Kitchener across from Nexus. Mostly CCGs to my knowledge, but a small amount of gaming too. I don't know much about them.

Now and Then Books, almost next door to Nexus. Mostly comics, but a decent selection of d20 stuff if not gaming in general. I don't know if this has changed recently, but they had really low prices for a while last year as they were trying to liquidation stock to better divide the company after the original owner's death.

A note about Kitchener-Waterloo, for the most current information, try checking with WatSFic at the Univeristy of Waterloo - the science-fiction/gaming club does a semi-regular audit of gaming product availability in the area, and often gets member discounts at several places.

Nice... Are all of these still good?

<snip>
London, Ontario
Games Workshop 519 668-3713
Imperial Hobbies 519 434-8822
Now & Then 519 455-4800
Well, I can help here, a little at least. Game Workshop and Imperial Hobbies are still around. Dave at IH is a pretty good guy. "Now & Then" I'm afraid I've never heard of... weird.

There're also a couple others I can vouch for:

L.A. Mood
350 Richmond St.
519-432-398
www.lamoodcomics.com

Worlds Away
666 Dundas St.
519-433-1267

Belleville, Ont.

1) Greenley's Bookstore. Permanent 15% discount on D&D stuff... not much of a selection, but they'll order anything.

2) Chaos Comics

3) Chapters

In order of preference...

Mike
