Carcassonne BIG BOX

Ssadral

First Post
Man I just bought the big box of Carcassonne and it it something I have absolutely no regrets doing. I had bought the Hunter & Gatherer edition before the original and really enjoyed that. I was going through my FLGS and saw Carcassonne and was going to buy it with the first expansion. Then hidden, off to the side I see the Big box and look at the price and man was it a good price. It was $80 + tax. If I was going to buy the same thing, individually, it would've been $130 + tax.

I at first thought lugging around that big box was going to be pain, but then I realized that lugging around 5 different boxes to play all the expansions would be even more of a pain. The box itself is well organized and it appears that they have taken into account future expansions to fit within the big box.

Yep definitely pleased and for anyone who is looking into Caracassonne should consider putting the big box on their list.

Carcasonne was one of the first games I picked up when I really started actively building my collection. Debated getting the big box vs. just the core set, and got the core set.

A couple days later, after it was a hit with my fiancée and me, I went back and got the big box. :)

I think they've recently changed the big box to include more stuff, though. Mine only included 4 expansions (plus the river): inns & cathedrals, traders & builders, the tower, and the princess & the dragon.

One thing I found really bizarre was that, although the box insert remains one of the best I've ever seen and has a place for almost everything, it is notably lacking anywhere dedicated to the river tiles, forcing me to just leave them freeballing in the tower storage rack thingie. Always found that odd.

I'm really not that knowledgeable about the expansion sets, but my big box contains: the basic set, Princess and the dragon, Inns & cathedrals, abbey & mayor, traders & builders and River II, count, king & cult.

No tower or the catapult one.

It'll probably be awhile before I pick up the other two. I really won't pick up anything more until everyone is comfortable with all the expansions.
