Caryatid Column from ToH1

So, I was thinking of using the caryatid column from Necromancer Games Tome of Horrors in a game this weekend and realized that something about it was confusing me. The Shatter Weapons Special Quality says:
Any weapon that strikes a caryatid column must succeed at a Fortitude ASave (DC 12) or shatter into pieces. Magic weapons receive a bonus to this save equal to their enhancement bonus.
That's fine and dandy, but what do you use for the base Fortitude when making this save? Is it the character's Fortitude, plus the weapon's bonus, or is it something else? I asked over at the Necromancer Games forums, but so far I have no response. Any ideas what is meant by this?

Object Saving Throws from the SRD said:
Nonmagical, unattended items never make saving throws. They are considered to have failed their saving throws, so they always are affected by spells. An item attended by a character (being grasped, touched, or worn) makes saving throws as the character (that is, using the character’s saving throw bonus).

Magic items always get saving throws. A magic item’s Fortitude, Reflex, and Will save bonuses are equal to 2 + one-half its caster level. An attended magic item either makes saving throws as its owner or uses its own saving throw bonus, whichever is better.

Animated Objects: Animated objects count as creatures for purposes of determining their Armor Class (do not treat them as inanimate objects).

Does this answer your question?

And since we're discussing the ToH...unless you are using the revised stats from Tome revised, I'll post them in this thread this evening. Nothing major changed...just updated the stuff (like a lot of 3e to 3.5 stuff was)

I am using the original Tome with the errata from the NG site. I am running a 3.0 game.

Ah. Well- I guess ya don't need the 3.5 version then :-)
Nope. ;) never saw the need to change and spend more money on books I had just recently purchased. But, I have to say, I was really glad to get a copy of the Tome of Horrors!

I would be interested in the differences between 3.0 and 3.5 TOH. I ran an adventure with the Caryatid columns as well, [and the sand man, giant ant-lion, etc] and would be anxious to see how they work differently.
