Actually people are forgetting (as far as I can tell) that the cape has a side effect ... the puff of smoke thingie - at origin and destination.
The normal dimension door spell has no such description ... you disappear and immediately appear. There is no tell tale sign of your transference. Thus the "secret" transfer is no longer too secret.
Now personally I don't think it's that much of a drawback but it may have adjusted the cost (using 75% rule or something similar).
