Casting Through Anti-Magic?

It occurs to me that a sort-of parallel exists with the wall of force. Most spells cannot trace a line of effect through it (magic missile, fireball etc) but some spells can get "past" it because they don't actually have a line of effect (dimension door, teleport). I would guess that the list of spells that can/can't get past an antimagic field/cone would be pretty much the same as the list that can bypass a wall of force (with the exception of disintegrate, of course!)

I've never really considered Monster Summoning in that situation... is it something which you could cause on the far side of a wall of force, because that is the point at which you "open a dimensional summoning point" or whatever? or does there have to be some magical influence within the current plane that has to be at the summoning point?

as far as a certain flamer - he's done this before in the timestop thread - and a few others. Reasoned thought can be complicated - too complicated sometimes for individuals who have to make certain remarks about "beating you know what"...

Please stop beating your you know what, if I know what you mean, and you know what I do.

People are crying "broken" or "unbalancing" at the very concept, thought, or idea that a caster could stand within and send out spells from inside an AMF. The reason damage reduction IS a su ability - unlike all other defences - is because of AMF - yes.

You seem to have mistaken your hyphen key for your comma.

So yes, it is the proper balancing decision to say that DR doesn't work in an AMF. Alas, it is not the only POSSIBLE interpretation of the words chosen to write the spell description.

Are you finished arguing with yourself yet, if you know what I mean, and I think you do?

The text I have for "range" of AMF is not 0 ...

Range 10 ft

Area: 10 ft emanation, centered on you.

strange funky wording for emanations - don't you think?
