First Post
Castle Whiterock is now available! The 761-page megadungeon boxed set from Goodman Games is appearing in this stores this week. This is the 51st adventure in the Dungeon Crawl Classics series and what we like to call the greatest dungeon story ever told. In a single massive dungeon complex, your characters will advance from 1st level all the way to 15th (and possibly beyond). Every room is mapped, every monster is statted, and the massive boxed set includes not only four huge books of dungeon crawling, but also a 56-page gazetteer of the surrounding region, a poster map, a 32-page book of handouts, a 48-page book of maps, seven loose-leaf character sheets, and a 16-page index and glossary. If you need something to play between now and 4th edition, here it is!

Does this have plain white backgrounds on the pages, or is it the super-fancy backgrounds like DCC 35 (which are nice looking, but make the text on the pages impossible to read)?

Out of Castle Whiterock's 761 pages, the 56 pages that comprise the Gazetteer do use the textured background. The other 705 pages have white backgrounds. So it's 93% background-free!

The $2 module, DCC #51.5: Sinister Secret of Whiterock, will be in stores the week after Castle Whiterock (next week).

Thanks. That's what I concerned about, the legibility of the text for the dungeon itself. Gazetteer doesn't really matter, since you usually don't need to flip through that while running a game.

And honestly, just from looking at the preview map, I think there's enough to keep people playing from now to 4.5th edition, much less 4th.

Hopefully I can afford it before either of those come out, though. :p

If it helps explain things to your wallet (or your wife, as the case may be), Castle Whiterock is equivalent in page count to roughly 23 normal DCC modules... or a $230+ value. As far as price-to-page-count ratio, it's actually quite good. Even compared to hardbacks, it's on par (not even counting the cool things you can only do in a boxed set, like the poster map and loose leaf character sheets). A 256-page hardback is usually around $35... so 512 pages would be $70... and 768 pages would be $105. Lo and behold, Whiterock clocks in at 761 pages for $100. What a steal! :)

I've got a copy of the pdf version and the Gazatteer and Index files both have a 'No Background version' so basically the entire adventure comes as background free in pdf.

The only thing I can't find in the entire pdf is a map of the Kingdom of Morrain. Is this in DCC 35?
