[Castles and Crusades] The Encumbrance System has to Go.

Heh heh heh, and I'm using Wulf's encumbrance from GrimTales, which is sort of ironic. That's a pretty strict system. Anything more than a light load puts the ACP of the load penalty to attack rolls (GrimTales).

It's working out well for us. The most popular piece of equipment is triple-mastercrafted Studded Leather that's lightened x2 to 16lbs and has the ACP reduced to 0. Those rules are from the Black Company Campaign Setting book.

It's a flavor thing, though. We're going for a bit more of a "realistic" fantasy, though, so I didn't want everybody charging around with full plate waving greatswords while carrying a small armory.

I'm thinking of enforcing the same rules for my next full fantasy game, as well. So I'd probably LIKE the C&C encumbrance, though I'd probably allow backpacks to ease some burdens a little and not cause encumbrance themselves.

They do. According to TLG's errata, they carry 8 ENC worth of stuff, and if worn reduce their encumbrance by 1.
