I just can't imagine knowingly abandoning an animal like that. :( So sad. Cheers to you for being a kind soul. This board needs a thumbs up icon.

It has one ;).

And I just wanted to add my voice to the others as a cat lover with two cats myself to say "Jolly Good Show!". In some of my recent travels I have been in Dubai, U.A.E. and Ankara, Turkey and saw some stray kittens there... even the shape they were in and their chances for survival tore at my heartstrings so it is nice to see such charitable actions. :D

Don't call me an old softy, but we took in some cats (not the Siamese, he was $165 many years ago). These are the indoor ones, there are three outside as well, the outside ones are rather skittish.

Caution: Not for the weak of stomach. The Siamese is a ham, the grey tabby is 5 and stunted in growth and the orange tabby has two thumbs per paw.

Golden Gate park here in San Francisco is full of feral cats from people who abandoned them in the past.

We used to have a very vibrant community of rare exotic birds there, but they're mostly dead now.

I still find it interesting that there are people out there that still just get in the go to go for a ride. That's so 50s. :D

I love cats, but that many animals in a house would drive me nuts -mess and allergy wise.

That is so sweet of you to rescue them. People who dump animals in places like that make me ashamed to be human.

Cute naming them after the Weasly family too :)

I want a kitten. But I'm afraid my dog would eat it.

Good luck

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone. The kitties are doing great, and have really taken a liking to us. The only casualty so far has been the shower curtain, which now sports a two-square-foot gaping hole in it!

Please do yourself a favor and get them checked out by a vet. I realize that they were probably dumped and that there's a good chance that there's nothing wrong with them, however a similar act of charity on my part resulted in the deaths of 3 of my 4 cats about a year and a half ago. We still don't know what disease the young one brought to our cats, but we strongly suspect that it was feline leukemia - my cats were vaccinated, but they were middle aged. The sad thing is that the young ones often don't show signs of it, even though its absolutely deadly for older cats. Unfortunately if there is anything wrong with them, its probably too late for the one you already have if they've been allowed to mix, but I would still run them to the vet, just so you know that they're disease free. While you're there, though it costs a few bucks, start them on their vaccinations.
