Cave Troll's missing asterisk

Hi, trollhuggers everywhere!

Am I victim to a mindfog spell or do I miss the explanation of the first asterisk in the description of the MM3 Cave Troll (p. 177)? One * appears in the Attack and Full Attack entry but no explanation is found....!?

Should the * explain that the damage boni (bonuses, for bonus lovers) of the cave troll's attacks are somehow higher than normal?

"With a little rend from my trolls....."
