CB's City of the Spider Queen v3.5

Alex sees the magics displayed by his human companion. He lets out a chuckle and says "I knew there was somethinng I liked about you". Thankful to be free of his bonds and confidant Ardyth is not in danger he rushes forward (to 9N) and attacks the spider in front of Pryxo (in P9).

OOC: If Pryxo has never seen a spiked chain in use I'm sure she is a little shocked to see the whirl of chain swinging around his body.

+2 Silver Spiked Chain 10 (BA) + 4 (STR) +2 (greater Weapon focus) +2 (magic)= Total +18
Damage 2d4 +6 (4str *1.5) +2 (magic) + 2 (Weapon Secialization) -1 (silver) = Total 2d4+9

K'yorl concentrates on the power bestowed her by Lolth and reaches out to touch the red-striped spider rearing on hind legs directly in front of her. At her touch, the spider's legs curl inwards and the creature crumples into a spasming ball of chitine at her feet. K'yorl then steps backward away from the fresh spider husk, leaving Prixo and Blite to field the remaining spiders.

Start of Round 4. Mellubb's last posted action for Alex will go in Round 4.

Initiative:

Prixo 23
Zarra 19
Alex 15
Drider
Hael 12
Ardyth 9
Lyssa 8
Spiders
K'yorl 6
Blite 4

Fearing little from the spiders, Blite makes his way towards the closest until it is within reach of his greatsword. The tip of the blade flies around his body, aiming to end the spider's life.

OOC: Depending on whether he needs to move more than 5ft:
single attack: +1 Greatsword melee +16/+11, 3d6+13dmg, 17-20/x2
full attack: +1 Greatsword (+16/+11, 3d6+13dmg, 17-20/x2) + Gore (+10, 1d8+4, 20x2)

Free at last, Prixo sees the spiders now scuttling towards him. He sees the drow priestess reach out and cause a spider to shrivel. I wonder how Lolth would feel about that.

Acting hastily, he clicks his heels again and backs away a little from the advancing spiders, quickly drawing arrows and sending them streaking towards the nearby menaces.

(ooc: 5' step away from the spiders; another round of Haste, Rapid Shot
attack +16/+11/+16/+16, damage 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 frost + 1d6 shock (no poison), crit 20/x3, Point Blank Shot gives another +1 to hit and damage within 30'

He will attack the closest spiders first, and if they both go down, he will shoot for the next closest spiders coming from that direction.

Prixo, as a trained and experienced mercenary, would have seen all PHB weapons in use or at least in training.)

Lyssa Gloaming

If the drider is still up:

Lyssa's longsword, crackling with electricity, weaves a deadly pattern striking out at the the Drider from behind her shield. "I can't wait to hear the chitinous crunch as your corpse hits the ground bugman."

OOC: +1 Shocking Longsword +11/+6 melee 1d6+5+1d6 electrical dmg 19-20 x2

Or if not:

Lyssa buzzes over to aid Hael with the spiders besetting him. She tries to impale one on the tip of her sword. To Hael she says, "I don't know what's worse, Drow or all their damned spiders."

OOC: +1 Shocking Longsword +11 melee 1d6+5+1d6 electrical dmg 19-20 x2

Prixo moves backward five feet, giving himself enough room to clear the red-striped spiders and get a full draw on his longbow. Though his first arrow misses the spider in P9 very badly and goes wildly astray through the open window of a nearby shop front, causing a resounding crash to spray forth from inside the store, Prixo's other three arrows each find their mark. His reflexes quick and on the money, Prixo shoots one arrow through each of the spiders in P8, R7, and P10, dealing 20 points of damage, then 16 points of damage, then 16 points of damage respectively. These three red-striped spiders spasm a time or two then keel over in place. The first spider in P9 that Prixo missed remains standing.

Zarra crawls out from underneath the merchant stall in H11 and darts across the byway, stowing herself underneath the stall nearly opposite (J8). From her crouch under the market stall, which by the smell of it must be offering perfumed oil that is cloying sweet to the nose, Zarra's rapier remains at the ready, its metal point skittering on the bare stone byway.

Alex quickly moves foward to the only open space near the spiders (N10), directly behind K'yorl. Lashing at the red-striped spider in P9 with his silvered spiked chain, dealing 16 points of damage. One of the spider's sections of upper thorax gets caught on a barb of Alex's length of chain and rips free of the carapace to leave an oozing open wound through which green ichor drips. The spider drops motionless to the byway floor.

Drider 2 moves five feet diagonally away from the maelstrom of blows being rained upon it by both Hael and Lyssa and casts a spell directly at Hael. Lyssa, still in range of the Drider, takes advantage of the opportunity presented and whirls her longsword at the bugman, striking the creature and dealing 8 points of damage and 1 point of electrical damage. The noise of so many fleeing customers in the market drowns out the spell's verbal compenentry and prevents either K'yorl or Ardyth from recognizing the spell before it is cast. Just as Lyssa's longsword flashes with brilliant white energy, Hael, however, soon finds himself on the receiving end of a much larger blast of lightening similar in color. Drider 2 quickly sucks in a breath of air and re-focuses on Hael. Relying more on his innate ability to resist magical effects than any particular quickness of feet, Hael narrowly manages to skirt to the side to avoid the full brunt of the searing white blast and takes 10 points of damage.

Enraged, Hael moves in five feet to V3 and whirls his battleaxe. The first blow solidly connects, dealing 12 points of damage. The second blow does little other than glance off Drider 2's exoskeleton.

Seeking to end the spider threat on the ground early, Ardyth centers a fireball on T9 that incinerates the remaining four red-striped spiders on the byway floor. The spiders in S8, T9, U11, and V10 all drop as one, their husks charred and smoking.

Lyssa, summoning all the available strength in her small form, weaves her longsword in a deadly pattern before bringing the blade to bear on Drider 2. As the edge of her longsword crackles with electrical energy, Lyssa scores a blow that perfectly matches her considerable might with a great deal of precision. The hit, which deals 22 points of damage to Drider 2, cleaves the drider neatly into two halves which then topple from the cavern sidewall onto the shop roofs 15 feet below.

The two red-striped spiders clinging to the cavern sidewall nearest Hael move in to bite at the duergar. The first spider is too eager and snaps at Hael but misses wide, nearly causing the small-sized spider to lose its purchase on the wall. The spider in T3, however, bites Hael on his lower right leg, dealing 1 point of damage. The wound immediately begins to burn and Hael notes that the flesh in that area feels hot and pinched. The third spider clinging to the wall in S3 skitters from side to side, obviously looking for a way to get in at Hael and Lyssa, then skuttles to V2 to be nearer the drider.

K'yorl and Blite should please re-declare their action for this round.

Lyssa Gloaming Rogue/Fighter/Sorcerer

Lyssa laughs with satisfaction as the drider falls and moves in to attack the spiders still attacking the Duergar. "Be strong my friend, we'll make short work of these bugs."

OOC: +1 Shocking Longsword +11/+6 melee 1d6+5+1d6 electrical dmg 19-20 x2

Blite shields himself from the burst of fire that erupts ahead of him. Looking at the devastation it leaves, he glances around to ensure that all of the spiders are dealt with.

Hearing the battle ongoing on the rooftops, he heads towards the shop front so as to hoise himself up and try to help Hael and Lyssa

K'yorl sheathes her dagger and surveys the carnage. Casting a glance at the remaining spider she considers that they will need to beat a hasty retreat after they've been dealth with. This commotion is not likely to make either her or her new companions particularly popular. It would probably be advisable to make for Maemydira as quickly as possible.
