CB's City of the Spider Queen v3.5

K'yorl resheathes her dagger and casts a look around the marketplace to survey the destruction. Nine market stalls have been flattened, two merchants lie close at hand and have been trampled to apparent death. A third merchant, surrounded by burnt spider husks, lies near the middle of the carnage that is now on fire after Ardyth's wreath of flames. All told, in addition to the stalls flattened by Blite, a full 17 market stalls are on fire. Three shop fronts, actual stone and mortar edifices, show signs of smoke damage and charred outer walls.

Blite, double moving away from the hot flames surrounding Drider 3, crosses back through the byway and the section of stalls flattened earlier in H through E8. Using his height to full effect and finding ample purchase on the outside of the shop front, Blite climbs a quarter of his normal walking speed up the shop front. At the end of his turn, he is 10 feet into a 25 foot climb.

Prixo was relieved that the spiders went down quickly, but he'd wanted to search the fallen drider, now engulfed in flames. And there was little time. Confident that the others would make short work of the few remaining spiders, he turned the other way and sprinted towards the drider that the minotaur had cleaved. It looks like our randomly assembled group doesn't have a weak link.

(ooc: Double move to body of drider 1, which he intends to search ASAP.)

Ardyth : Female Human Wizard 10

If any spiders remain once it is her turn, she will drop her prepeared Ray of Enfeeblement spell for a Magic Missile spell.

OOC: Split the missiles between multiple targets if there is more then one target by that time.

Depending how high the market stall in square O8 is Aaron will jump up and to grab the ledge, then climb up. Then, jump across to the store tops and move as far as possible toward the remaining spiders with out provoking an AoO.

Prixo moves from N9 to D10. Crouching down to survey the hulking crust of Drider 1, Prixo prepares to search the carcass in the next few seconds.

Zarra crawls out from under the market stall in J8 and moves to E8, near one of the stalls flattened by Blite. Standing guard in her new position well away from the flames that burn at the southern market stalls and shop fronts, Zarra scans the bazaar for signs of approaching guards or other authority figures.

Alex runs in the area just vacated by Prixo and lightly springs to the wooden counter of the market shanty in O8. The stall on the immediate left is on fire and threatens to engulf the one Alex stands on, but the able fighter leaps across to cling to the shop front. Climbing a quick 15 feet up, Alex is just shy of reaching the 25 foot elevated rooftop at the end of the round.

Hael swings away at the two spiders within his reach, dealing 9 points of damage and 1 point of Con damage to one spider, and 8 points of damage and 1 point of Con damage to the other spider. In the whirlwind of Hael's biting axe strokes, bits of spider exoskeleton fly off at odd angles and by the end of just a few bare seconds, both spiders fall in hacked up bits to the rooftops below.

Ardyth casts magic missle at the last spider and hits the hoary creature, dealing 14 points of damage. The last spider falls to the rooftops, blasted by arcane force bolts.

Tailspinner, have commented in OOC re: a couple of Ardyth's feats. Apologies for not commenting last week---meant to but forgot. Please reply ASAP in OOC. Until I hear back from you, for the next day at least, I am content to continue to allow Ardyth the ability to drop spells to spontaneously cast. Please do expect a character revision, though. And, again, my apologies at not having jumped in this sooner.

Lyssa and Blite find that there are no longer any spiders left in the bazaar to attack.

END OF INITIATIVE. POST AT WILL.

Lyssa

"Nicely done Hael." Spinning and dropping quickly Lyssa moves to see how her friend is doing. Finding her with Blite, she says, "We better get out of here. I don't think we made any friends with this." Looking at the disarry around her Lyssa snatches up a few choice bits of food to make a meal for her new friends. To Blite she says, "perhaps you could find us a small keg of ale or wine?"

Knowing that he doesn't have much time, Prixo doesn't hesitate to examine the drider caracass. He checks for pockets and so on - looking for useful items, gold, or even better - some clue as to who the drider was working for. (search +1)

Alex finishes his climb to the top of the store fronts. He quickly moves forward to ensure both Hael and Pryxo are ok "Any injuries??" he asks in a shallow voice more testing than concerned. "Nice work you two" he says sincerely impressed "maybe we will make to Maerimydra after all" he chuckles to himself.

Pulling himself up onto the shops, Blite looks at the scene. Since all the spiders have been killed, he turns and lowers himself back down to the ground. Turning at Lyssa's request, "I'm sure you can get your own ale, I'm not yours to command. Besides, we need to get going."

Glancing around the area, he curses that the merchants have fled the scene. "Could have done with getting myself some throwing axes. Damn spiders scaring everyone off", he mutters, not thinking for a moment that it might have been him scaring the merchants off instead.
