CB's City of the Spider Queen v3.5

"Well I think that we shall have to remember to get something to cure poison then.
I am curious, how is it that this is the way the merchants come and go from when there is no trail for the wagons or carts?"

If that stick can take the fire out of my leg from the spider's unclean bite that'd be another matter though. I can feel it trying to spread.

OOC: Is this just flavor text? I thought Hael was immune to poison. If K'yorl realizes that one of the party's pathfinders has been poisoned, she'll be inclined to do something about it.

"Sickness not venom. I plan to talk to the priestess when we camp. She should have magic for spider sickness. Couldn't jump worth a damn right now but its nothing that can stop me up here."

The cool empty air sens chills down Alex's spine as the party quietly walks though the cavern. Careful to keep an eye open for intruders or defenders depending on how you look at it he keeps his chain at the ready preparing to strike at anything he may determine to be a threat. He looks around wondering how intelligent creatures can stan to live so far from the sun, rain, meadows and forest. It is not hard to see how the constant darkness ruins their heart.

Slowing his pace so as to not get ahead of the group, Blite looks at Alex with a raised eyebrow.

"So is asking for volunteers for a mission, then poisoning them and sending survivors off without a map, or proper means of leaving the city a new thing for your missus, or a tried and tested strategy?" he asks, a hint of amusement in his voice.

From atop Hael's flying bat, Zarra looks down. The bat seems to be struggling under the weight of both the duergar and herself. Hael senses the same of his flying companion--the bat is ill-accustomed to carrying more than one and the extra weight is rapidly tiring the creature.

I see carrying capacity of 200 lbs for a dire bat. Let me know if you feel this should be different.

As the bat wings over a boulder, Zarra spots what the others walking on the ground have already noticed--there is evidence of the passage of caravans. Broken axles, fragments of splintered wagon floorboards, warped bits of metal, and the bones of a beast of burden with the leather straps still affixed to it litter the passageway at irregular intervals. There is also sign of wheel ruts here and there--not often but enough to speak of the passing of wagons. The passage would be nearly impossible to traverse during the first mile out of Szith Morcane.

Into the second hour of their journey, the party soon spies a team of two kuo-toa carters and a third kuo-toan porter heavily laden with gear and merchandise. The three kuo-toan have made camp to the side of the wide passageway and appear to intent on repairing the broken haft of a handle on one of the carts while the third kuo-toa busily shreds strips of pale dried flesh in a makeshift dinner. The kuo-toan look up with interest as the party nears their encampment from some 60 feet away.

Wary in case of any danger from the kuo-toa's, Blite looks at his companions on the ground. "What do you reckon... we could possibly share their camp for tonight? It's fairly late after all.

"Well, I don't know anything about spider sickness. Perhaps the priestess can take a look at it for you? I do know that those were unusual spiders. I can't say that I've ever seen them before. Anyway, I think we should land and I should walk for a while. You're bat seems to be getting tired and we have a long way to go, and those kua-toa may cause some trouble. Thanks for the lift though, it was interesting to say the least." Zarra then prepares to get off when they land.

"I do not the the intentions of my mistress. I believe she does not care if any of us return and, thus I don't wholely intend to. We should find enugh loot for me to find my way back to the surface where I don't need to rely on magic to see... or eat for that matter. I believe my enslavement is over. Kou-toa what language do the speak?? Besides undercommon I mean. I can ask, they may not be friendly, maybe that would be better..."

"Aye, it does look like two riders is too much for the lazy git. Outnumbering the fishies should keep them in line lets hope. We should find out if they have more news of Maerimydra." Hael directs the laboring bat to the ground near the party.
