CB's Shackled City: Zenith Trajectory

Nyla inwardly chuckles at the befuddled guys around the bar.

Then Nyla asks Meenah, "Do you work for the Lord Mayor or the city gaurd?"

"No, I've never worked for them. I'm actually fairly new in town."

[sblock=Aaron]Meenah's surface thoughts: "Uhm... is it actually a good or a bad thing? I should probably know more about this Lord Mayor myself."[/sblock]

"Ah, I am semi-new myself. You are of course wishing to do some real good whether it pays or not? You haven't come seeking to get rich? And you understand that this is very dangerous work? We are actually going into more danger than we've yet faced, I believe, and we have had some terrible tradgedy already."

"Get rich? To be honest, it's a thought that never crossed my mind. I don't mean that I do not enjoy nice things... such as some delicacy food or sweet wine. But I am a traveller at heart, and when you don't have a home there is not much reason to hoard wealth. Even before I started the life of an adventurer, I belonged to a tribe of nomadic people, and I was never much impressed or interested by gold.

And about danger, well... I'm not sure about what kind of danger lies ahead, and I won't pretend to think that I would always be capable and brave enough to face any challenge. But I know that I have yet to find my reason to be part of this world, and that I can only find it through perils and dangers...
"

[sblock=Aaron]"If the heroes of the town are concerned about the dangers ahead... I wonder what I would be able to do against such a great danger. I do not wish to disappoint these people."[/sblock]

"Meenah if we accept you what exactly can you help us with? I just need to know you can take care of yourself. There will be times when our lives depend on the fact that you can do whatever it is you do. There will also be times when your life will depend on us doing what we do. I am not trying to scare you I only want you to understand what you are getting into. You must learn to trust us."

"Let's see... I'm good at manual skills. If you need to add some finesse to your group's repertoire, perhaps I can be useful to you. For instance, I'm keen on devices of both mechanical and magic type: locks, traps, mechanisms, puzzles...

I'm also a valid scout, and I'm quite fit for acrobatic deeds, tho I don't know how often you may need such things. I've got quite a range of qualifications, from free-climbing to tight-rope walking to burglary...

[sblock=Aaron]Oops... did I just say "burglary"?[/sblock]

And as for combat, well I'm not exactly a warrior, but I can be a decent support, both from range and from flanking positions. Let's say a second line fighter!
"

"Well we could definately benefit with some added help in most of those departments." In which Nyla scowls at the thought of what burglary. "I would have to say that you are by far the best candidate that we have had thus far, and my vote is for you to join us. So if there are any other questions, gentlemen, otherwise I say we come to a decision and get a move on it."

I have a question....
If you were fighting someone or something and it has surrendered or been subdued in any other way which makes it incapable of fighting, what would you do with that being?

"I am against unnecessary bloodshed, and I believe most bloodshed is unnecessary. If the threat is over, there is every reason to be mercyful.

Of course, I've got my shares of backstabbing and disappointment in the past, so I think that being always careful and somewhat suspicious is a good idea! A villain who surrenders almost always starts plotting revenge from the very moment, so being mercyful doesn't mean to let him go, just to spare his life. Deliver him to the law or otherwise arrange some sort of imprisonment that should prevent him from being a threat at least for a long time. I also believe that everyone except a few truly irredeemable beings deserves a second chance.
