Crap! Roscoe calls as the frost covers him. He jumps back as he tries to warm the areas that took the frost bite attack. I say we head back.

OOC: We haven't heard from Skarsgard for a while and she didn't respond to my mention in the OOC, so here is a Dex saving throw for Colden. Everyone has now rolled their Dexterity saving throw, so please feel free to state where you go next and what you'd like to do as a group.

Colden Dexterity saving throw, including the +1 modifier [roll0] for 31 points of damage.

The members of the party who feel like talking to each other all confer on their next plans. Guran asks whether he should try out a healing word attempt on Roscoe, or whether it would be better to save such a one-shot in case Spec needs it.

Guran asks Fulgrim, "How fast would a trap like that reset? Is this a good time for me to try to pick that lock, or should we try another approach to that room--such as through the ceiling, or around the other way to the east, and south from there?"

Colden is, I believe, at 10/41 hp. If that's a factor.

"I'm not sure, exactly. It may not even reset." Furrowing his brow, Fulgrim made a decision. "It's magical, so it should emit an aura under certain divinations. Unfortunately, I don't have that spell prepared, but I can cast it given about 10 minutes. Hopefully it won't reset, but if it does, we'll just find another way. No reason to risk another magical onslaught like that..."

The dwarf mage moved back into the short hallway and pulled out his spellbook.

OOC: Probably obvious, but Fulgrim is casting Detect Magic and checking out the door to see if an aura remains.

The smile from Roscoe's face vanish after the frost attack and he says with a grim voice.
Some of us will not survive an attack like this again. I say we leave for a warmer place.

"You may be right, Roscoe. i have no idea how the kobolds we saw worked that magic, nor how they would be able to bypass this trap. We tried to take precautions and they failed. Before we consider retreat, we need to establish that we are capable of retreat."

Spec turns to the others. "Fharlanghn can offer healing to some of you, though my magic is not strong enough that you can all be healed. If any of you feel you cannot wait for a rest, please say so."

The frost that has accumulated in Spec's moustache is still there and is melting. He mops it up with his kerchief.

OOC: I'm at 8/23 right now; others? Had I thought more quickly, I would have tried to use inspiration to mitigate this, but I think it's too late now. Maybe we see if the spell is gone (ritual) and do a short rest right away before moving?

They must have been bypassed the deadly room using a secret door somewhere or the passage in the ceiling we found.
Roscoe replies
We can treat the wounds with the help of your honorable god or by resting (Using hit dice?) in the skulls room.

Guran agrees, "If we can get back to the skulls room safely, then I agree that a thorough, sit-down breather there might be our best option. For now, though, I'm going to wait until Fulgrim completes his ritual so we can better know what we're facing here."

He carefully doesn't mention the room containing the fountain of magically healing beer this time, because only dwarves benefit from it; and of the dwarves in the party, Guran took no damage and Fulgrim took only (what was it?) 2 HPs worth.

Fulgrim spent a hair's breath over ten minutes casting detect magic in a ritualistic way. He muttered to himself as he worked the spell, his fingers weaving an arc of white sparks in the open air as the ritual built. When he was done casting, Fulgrim stood up straight and had a keen look around at his surroundings. He'd cast in the hallway, just to be safe. The ritual had definitely worked; Fulgrim spotted necromancy magic in the gold ring born by Roscoe. The neatly coiled 100' length of rope carried by Spec glowed, too--though with transmutation magic, not necromancy. The bag of holding gave off a faint aura of magic, also transmutation. The small vial of clear blue liquid that smelled of almonds in Colden's possession gave off an aura of evocation. The small vial of opaque orange liquid that smelled of fragrant spices gave off an aura of necromancy.

And--what was that? Fulgrim spotted the glow of something magical, something very small, inside the bag of holding. At the bottom of the bag. Whatever it was, it gave off a faint aura of transmutation.

When Fulgrim at last turned his attention to the door, he noted first that the rime of frost on the handle was gone. Nothing on the door glowed with magic. He turned and examined the short corridor and hallway leading from the room to the door, but found no aura of magic from the walls, floor, or ceiling in the narrow passageway. None in the room, either. The only magic to be seen was on the persons of the party.
