CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

OOC The mephit has not been in the arena for three rounds. Next round it is.

Dusty breathes a cone of gritty dust, damaging Spike for 2, but Spike avoids getting the stuff in his eyes (rolled Ref save). Spike has 14 HP remaining.

Round 204: Dusty's thoughts are too complicated for Spike to read just now (rolled 16 Will save). What else does Spike want to do this round?

"Blast it!" With the charm foiled, Spike will change shape into [insert Large flying creature here]* and fly up to the dust mephit.

* Unfortunately, that ability is very unrestricted and vague. Theoretically, Spike could become a Large air elemental. Let me know if you want to use the polymorph restrictions or if you just want to choose a form for me, given what you think Spike might know.

OOC The CC is vague? Surely you jest! Because it does not say the ability is like polymorph or shape change, and it says any creature of the indicated sizes, it can change into anything it has seen. Spike can change into anything that has fought in the Abyssal Arena up to this time. I will let the next person to post choose.

For reference, Spike is at 60N15E with 14 HP remaining, and Dusty is at 60N15E10Z and unharmed.

OOC: The thing is CR 2, for Pete's sake! Treat the ability as Alter Self. Types are limited to humanoids and animals.

OOC: Well, as alter self, Spike can't become an animal or humanoid. But, since there are no flying humanoids (or monstrous humanoids), Spike will become by default the best flying animal with 3HD or less: the dreaded eagle. He will then (subsequent rounds) charge upward and fight until he dies in a puff of feathers. Please Time Compress Spike out of our collective miseries.

Round 204: Spike turns into an eagle. Dusty takes a 5-foot step down to 60N15E5Z and claws twice, hitting both times for 4 points of damage. Spike has 10 HP remaining.
Round 205: Spike misses all three attacks (best roll 16). Dusty misses twice.
Round 206: Spike hits with one talon, but the damage is ignored by Dusty. Dusty breathes for 1 point. Spike has 9 HP remaining.
Round 207: Spike misses because Dusty is blurry. Dusty hits with one claw for 2. Spike is at 7 HP.
Round 208: Spike hits once, but the damage is ignored. Dusty hits for 1. Spike at 6.
Round 209: Damage ignored. Dusty hits twice for 6. Spike at 0.
Round 210: Spike misses his last chance, is dying, and is out of our misery. Dusty flies up to 60N20E20Z.

First in round 211 for Chaotic Evil is a snow shaman orc (Frostburn).

OOC: I'd complain about Spike, but there are some creatures even I don't care about. :D

An ugly orc, as if there were any pretty orcs, wearing thick furs, leather armor, and shield shuffles into the arena to 60N20E. His shield is held read and the rusty morningstar rests in a loop at his hip. Buh Tuggly glares up at Dusty and readies to cast burning hands should the pipsqueak dare to come even five feet closer.

OOC: I assume that his range is from the ground. If it's from 5ft, then he can reach Dusty and will cast the spell.

Round 211: Dusty comes down to 60N20E15Z, taking a fan of flame for his troubles. Dusty still was cautious enough to dodge the flame (Ref save 14), but still takes 4 points of damage. Dusty has 9 HP remaining.
Dusty retaliates with a cone of gritty dust, which Buh Tuggly takes in the face and exposed skin (rolled 11 Ref save), taking 3 points of damage. Buh Tuggly has 13 HP remaining, and his eyes are burning and skin is itching. (The game effects are a -4 penalty to AC and -2 penalty on attack rolls.)

Buh Tuggly is first in round 212. He has the strong feeling that Dusty will not be coming into morningstar range, and will keep breathing as much as possible. It might be possible to run away, but unlikely. Dusty looked pretty fast from what BT saw.
