Centaurs / Wemic characters and the Mounted feats

Interesting. So, does it also say centaurs get to deal double damage with a lance?

We've been having a discussion about this on the www.dragonlanceforums.com message forums, and the argument's mainly been about the double damage with lance thing. One poster apparently got a word from "Steve" at WOTC customer service telling him that yes, they do - that a centaur has all the benefits of being mounted.

Thoughts?

It's in the rules that they do. Not any errata or expansion book or anything, just the plain, vanilla MM entry. Under combat. I don't know how you can be having an arguement about it.

As to why? Who knows...

I can see Trample as a feat applicable to "mount characters", since the character has the hooves to do the job. I'm not so sure a mount character can hold a lance with the amount of stability that Spirited Charge seems to require. However, it sounds "heroic" enough that I would allow it. If I let players play such PC's at all, that is...

We were probably all looking at the race entry for centaurs in the Dragonlance Campaign Setting rather than the creature entry in the MM. Whoops!
