Ceramic DM?

random questions

with 12, are we doing: 6x2, 2x3, 1x2 or 4x3, 2x2, 1x2?

Also, are we running each round concurrently, or are we staggering/offsetting them somehow?

I ask because you posted the first round, first match starts tomorrow, and I have a job interview on Monday I need to prepare a bunch for over the weekend.

Thanks!
Aaron

Do you care if I post my side-judgements on the main thread? Always good to have some random comments to read while waiting for the real judges to crush souls :)

Ehmmmm, I'll have to check with the other judges on that. But for now, just the first match between two persons. So don't worry about it.

We are going to start with 6 matches of 2...and go from there.

They will be staggered, at least somewhat, for our own sanity. No worries about getting in before your interview. There will, undoubtedly, be another match or three to get to (within Round 1) following Monday.

You got it. Welcome aboard the good ship, Ceramic DM.

OK. The sign-up is closed for the March 2012 Ceramic DM Writers' Contest.

That's 12 folks, folks. We can't take anymore. Maybe in April ;)

--SD

April...lets see...

6 competitions for 1st round, staggered so say 1 starting each day = 8 days...awaiting judgments = 1 - 5 days...plus getting set for the next round...2 weeks minimum for the first round...second round only two competitions, even running concurrently, plus judging time = 1 week minimum, final round, the same, a week...so basically a month, maybe 6 weeks if real life rears its ugly head...so this one will take until mid-end April, at which time pretty much everyone involved will be ok with a bit of a break.

Now, it may be possible to get all new judges and competitors (except 1 or 2 of us insane enough to not want to stop) and jump right back in, but in my experience, naming them after seasons is about right...because one every 3 months is about the most frequent.

Woot! Hi, everyone. So much fun to see old friends in this contest. Except for Rodrigo... he's going DOWN. You can't trust people born on his birthday. Note: rumors that Rodrigo and I were born on the exact same day and year are scurrilous.

Hellefire, a suggestion: if anyone not the judges posts story comments before the judges have weighed in, let's do so in a [sblock]. That way the judges can easily ignore it until they've made their decision.

PS: Piratecat's Messiah Killer is most likely still my favourite. Can anyone find a link?

Sure thing! It's post #513 in this thread.

Folks, a few other bits of advice when posting your story:

Most word processing programs automatically put in spaces between paragraphs. Those spaces are formatting that doesn't carry on over to EN World. You'll want to put hard returns and line skips between your paragraphs, or risk accidentally posting a single giant block of text that's hard for the judges to read.

Similarly, consider using the "preview your post" feature. It'll help you find mistakes and formatting oddities.

Finally, if you want to hyperlink the photos right into your story, here's how.

1. In the judge post that shows your photographs, right click each one and open them in their own tab/browser window.
2. Copy the url.
3. In your story, use the following code for where you want the photo to be linked, except replace {} with [].

{url=PASTE THE URL HERE} the text here is the highlighted link{/url}

So if I wanted to link to this image of a shaved llama, my sentence would read:

I want to link to {url=http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/71037_292468348723_317087_n.jpg}this image of a shaved llama{/url} because it's awesome.

That was a hell of a story. I think that iteration of CDM and the followup were epic. We'd been doing them pretty consistently, and everyone was at the top of their game.

I pinged Berandor to let him know we were starting back up, but I didn't get a response. And I assume maxfieldjadenfox alerted the rest of the New Mexico Cabal.

If I can't judge I'd love to compete but it looks like I've just missed out. 1st alternate if needed then? [Stupid time zone difference!!!]

Best Regards
Herremann the Wise
