Chainmail, Battlesystem, DDM - do you?

Did you play any of the following D&D miniatures games

Played the 1e Battlesystem rules. They were fun, but, magic could really, really dominate a battlefield. Then again, that's my impression from god knows how many years ago, so, it's probably wildly innaccurate.

I had the Skirmishes rules, but, never really used them.

What I'd really like to see is something in between the two. Company sized combats with about 100 combatants to a side. Too small for Battlesystem, but too big for Skirmishes. That's something I've always wanted.

Magic in AD&D was "fireball for 6d6 damage, every person in a unit". The primary spells were meant for battlefield combat (as seen in Chainmail). I don't think you're misremembering! :)

Cheers!

I played Chainmail through Battlesystem: Skirmishes.

My favorite was the first edition of Battlesystem, though the points system seriously needed work.

I like big battles, the WotC 3e systems were aimed at smaller conflicts.

So, for 3e I mostly used the Open Mass Combat System by Mongoose.
