CHAINMAIL devlopment ceased

Morrus

Well, that was fun

This thread on the CHAINMAIL dev forum explains that development of CHAINMAIL has stopped:

CHAINMAIL was released to help promote "ShareIt", our product, but failed to do so. There was no increase of sales. As we, Adamaitis.NET, have not turned a profit for 2 years now, we may very well shelve the current build of CHAINMAIL. It is something that has just ended up costing a fortune without financial return. We decided against donations, as we are not sure if we will even continue the project, we would rather have a product/package, which someone could purchase upfront.

So I appreciate yours and everyone's support, but unless/until we find some sort of exchange of a "product-for-cash" (a cost-covering solution), the CHAINMAIL post may not receive any updates. The only reason I have spent as much time/money on this project as I have, is because I am a big fan of D&D :-)

I hope that everyone that reads this post understands that any changes would be out of necessity, not profit.

thanks,

I know that there were other users out there that have been using/modify/ the mod all along the way for their own use. We might very well see an updated version of the MOD from one of these sources. Just thought id toss that in.

Peace

You guys can always try World of Rhun on the vault. It is a large world for hack & slash and you don't have any need for any hak packs. You start in the City of Etum and although it is very Uber, you can modify it easily enough because you don't have the web of scripts like Lodor has.

- It supports Local Characters
- It needs NWN, SOU, & HOTU
- You start in the same city
- Vendors buy just about anything
- There are 40 quests in the city
- Has a map in JPG format
- Standard NWN death penalties
- Recall stones and portals

I only mention Rhun because many of you hated some of the features in Lodor that I implemented. I only made Lodor as hard as it is because many people said Rhun was too easy. I personally like Rhun. We had much fun in there because you could just log in and group right away. Travel is simplified so you don't have to run all the way across the world.

I just downloaded Rhun, but haven't had chance to take a look at it yet. I have to say, Djeryv, that I love your jpeg maps. Do you do those yourself? I'm sure there are some RPG publishers on these boards who could use some freelance cartography work.

I cannot take credit alone as it is aided by a program called Fractal Mapper. It was download I had to pay for. I think 20 or 30 bucks.

Yeah, Fractal Mapper is a great program. Play with it a little more Morrus... Its really easy to work with.

Ive taken a look at the MOD mentioned above. So far I still like the beta chainmail better. But I guess the MOD could be worked on to make it better....

Peace
