Honestly it would be kind of cool to have some sort of a indie fund for sensitivity readers that indie devs could access to make it easier for them and better for the audience.
It would be cool, but . . . who would create and maintain such a fund? Who would contribute? It is not the responsibility of the larger industry or the audience to provide such a service, but it certainly would be a cool thing if an industry group created such a fund.

I don't expect it to happen, but it would be an amazing service for Drive Through to offer based on user tips or something, or as a non-profit organization. ROI makes it unlikely. :(

I wonder what qualifies one to be a sensitivity reader and what guarantees they can provide. Do they specialize? How do you find the one that is steeped in demonology? Or ethnic issues of 12th century Prussia? or whatever?
This is definitely part of the reason why it's tough! Even before the recent push for sensitivity readers, connecting with quality editors, illustrators, and other partners wasn't an easy thing. Sensitivity readers can be hard to find for the same reasons, on top of this being a relatively recent development in the hobby.

Not an excuse to dismiss the value of finding, connecting with, and utilizing these folks. But certainly difficult and an added expense.

I have not dipped my toes into self-publishing and sharing my writing yet with the RPG community. If I decide to do so, I will definitely be exploring using professional editors, layout artists, illustrators, and perhaps other experts to help me create the best possible product that I can. How will I find these people? That's a bit scary and intimidating, to me. To start, I'll look for any RPG publisher communities, including here on ENWorld, and start discussions asking for recommendations. Once I find some folks to work with, I will have to gauge the expense of doing so before I even sell my first product. How much am I willing to invest? How much CAN I invest? I might not be able to meet all of my goals with my first product, but I'll try. And when I'm ready for future products after my first, I will constantly try to improve my work, which is a neverending process.

I'm not critical of small-time publishers who have not decided to engage with partners/experts yet, either due to the expense or lack of awareness of the need. But publishers who are dismissive of the ideal and the need, that's not a good look and colors whether I want to engage with them as a patron/customer.
