Champions of Ruin Contents

Shem,

Malkazid is a fallen celestial (Solar I believe). No idea if in falling he became a Loth, and thus a lord of Loths, but certainly he's no longer heaven cent.

HOWEVER if there are some new Vile feats, (which it looks to be possible) might at least use those.

Keep me informed when you get a copy.

Malkizid is a fallen solar (used to serve the seldarine) who fell to the Nine Hells, was exiled by Asmodeus, and moved to the 'nameless pits of the yugoloths'. They refer to him as both a yugoloth lord and an archdevil.

Soneillon is a succubus (may be using a false name), origally summoned by Narfell, who is causing trouble around Impiltur.

Dendar, Kezef, and Ityak-Ortheel are FR's trio of 'Elder Eternal Evils'.

Sounds cool. What does it mean though? What do they do that makes them deserving of such an epithet? Or do they do anything other than sitting around being old, immortal, and mean?

Dendar is based on Nidhogg, and it eats nightmares until it can destroy everything.

Kezef is based on Fenris, and may be the creation of Jergal.

Ityak-Ortheel was created from the mixing of blood from Gruumsh and Corellon. It lives to eat elves, destroying them beyond recovery.

I looked at the book at my FLGS yesterday. It did have a lot of vile feats. A lot of them dealt with demoralizing foes. The PrC's seemed interesting, pretty useful and flavorful. I probably woulud have picked it up if I hadn't already ordered it online. Heroes of Battle looked a little more useful. Of course, I ordered both.

Triteness to an extreme here. I mean this could have been WAY better than LoD which I felt was kind of weak. Not in the sense it didn't add much but mostly all LoD did was cover basics and didn't delve too deep into unknown orgs or even discuss how one becomes a fiend worshipper.

What is wrong with covering the basics and letting the DM fill in the blanks according to the specifics of his campaign?

I thought LoD was a great book - just enough information to help the DM, but not so much that it ties his hands.

LoD is perfectly fine, and I used it to great effect long before acquiring 2E books on some of the evil organizations contained therein. Granted, 2E Cloak and Dagger is a better read, and provides more plot hooks, but LoD is a much better "DM toolbox" book.
