It is completely different from the Dreaming. I've played twice already and it is a lot of fun. In this game you play humans kidnapped by the fey and you have escaped. You are not completely untouched from your experience though. And the fey will never stop trying to get you back.
Scary to think of Changeling actually having an identifiable plot line and antagonists scarier than someone who doesn't believe in magic.

I received my copy in the mail the other day and I LOVE what they've done with it. It is much darker than the original Changeling. In the first the PCs were basically people with fae souls which were stranded from Arcadia. In this one they are people who were abducted by the fae and forced into the servitude of completely alien beings (True Fae) but then escaped back into the real world. Oh yeah, the True Fae left creatures known as "Fetch" which took the place of the abductees and have been living the PC's life for them. Unfortunately for Changelings trying to get their old life back the Fetch know their family and friends better than the Changelings do.

MY wife wants the new Changeling simply b/c she loved the old Changeling so much, but we both dislike the NWoD so far. Here's to hoping ;)

What about the new game to you not like? It does use those rules and builds off the core book.

'Fraid I have to be the first naysayer...with a grain of salt (best thrown over ones' shoulder). I think the name gamehas a fantastic system, much better magic, really cool ideas and great art...but I like the concept of The Dreaming better. I'm not a fan of the WoD. Its goth/emo outlook and horror concepts do nothing for me. CtD was different. While it was about lost childhood, the dreary and mundane spreading like a plague of fast food restaurants and reality TV, it was also about the power of dreams and the child in us all. I'd love to use the new game to run the old way, if I can just figure out how.

I always felt that Changeling: the Dreaming was the most depressing oWOD game made. The fact that no matter what happened it was always a sure things that Changelings were all going to die out, and that boring people could kill you always made me feel that Dreaming was even more depressing than Vampire.

Well generally I'm all about Mage, I think that Lost is quite an interesting game. This game is a lot different, and I like the fact it's more closely tied to mythology and folklore.
