Changing the Pokemount for Dwarves

I usually suggest giving Ledarship as a bonus feat at 6th level, along with a bonus +2 to leadership for being a paladin, as a replacement for a mount. This works well because the cohort scales with level just like the mount. Besides, every self-respecting knight needs a squire!

Though I am intrigued by the idea of letting the paladin have access to one domain plus a extra domain slot at each level. Good for a more priestly focus.

Dire Wolf Special Mount. Makes much more sense than a horse for a dwarf (horses are too tall). Dire Wolf only requires 6 Paladin levels, they have lots of fur (for mountains). And they are very strong. Don't leave home without them.

Personally, I have no problem with a regular mount. The thing is, my DM doesn't like the flavor of the pokemount for Dwarves.

No Mount take an Advisor

If you're serious about the Moradin PrC, trade the mount for association with an existing Moradin, perhaps a relative. A lot of paladins never gain benefit from their mount accept as a faithful horse. Make due with whatever the world has and give your character some Moradin Tradition early.

If you must have a vehicle how bout a dwarven attack chariot pulled by two dwarven cavern dogs. The cavern dogs are a better deal for many players because they actually go udnerground readily, unlike the war horse.

My preference as a DM, if I was going to allow the prestige class, would be to see you start the mentor process early. Perhaps visiting the sights of Moradin Battles to know their history (maybe recover lost loot). Gift the ability to the great beyond or trade it for something more nebulous like an adventure map or two from a Moradin, or former Moradin. You could even choose to not have a mount to emulate your teacher. Or pledge to call no mount your own till you can do so as a Maradin.

Be warned: the UA item familiar feat is grotesquely overpowered.

Instead of a mount (and I suddenly want to see a dwarven paladin mounted on a giant centipede), how about granting the dwarf a +10' move, like the barbarian's fast movement or the psionic feat speed of thought?
