Char-Attributes without throwing....

I heart something about a System to get Charattributes without throwing the Dices. Can someone post me a link to these systems?

Hola Horrendos, Welcome to the boards...

Are you talking about point-buy?

With Point-buy (it's in the DMG), you start off with a number of points, and buy the attributes you want. The cost for each value of an attribute is:
Score Cost
8 0
9 1
10 2
11 3
12 4
13 5
14 6
15 8
16 10
17 13
18 16

The DM determines how many points the players start out with to buy stats for their character. A normal game is 25 points, a tougher game, 28 points, a hero game, 32 points.

Other possibilities are:

- use point-buy with a fixed cost of 1 point per 1 point increase (but best not to give more than 25)

- use a fixed array of DM's choice (IMHO a good choice for new players)

The Exodus Arena (see my SIG, below) also has a custom system I cooked up, which so far has proven to be reasonably balanced. Check out the "FIRST STOP: Generating a Character" thread, it's near the top. ^_^

you could pick a few numbers out of your head and put them into appropriate slots
