Character Builder Glitch

The Human Target

Adventurer
So after the last update me and a player's CB both have the same odd glitch. Unless of course CB is fine and we're idiots.

When we equip his dwarf fighter with his new found +2 Scale Armor of Dwarven Vigor the CB adds up his bonuses both wrong and in a weird way.

His AC should be 23= 10 + 1/2 lvl (2) + Armor/Ability (7) + Enhancement (2) + Misc (heavy shield 2)

What CB is giving us both is an AC of 24= 10 + 1/2 lvl (2) + Armor/Ability (8?) + Enhancement (2) + Misc (heavy Shield 2 + ? = 4) + Misc (-2 from something?)

I have no idea what the problem is.

Anyone else having issues?

I'd suggest double checking the math of you or your player's character sheets.

This is the first time we've had a known actual glitch with CB.

I can address the shield part, at least. It's a known character builder bug - it has heavy shields add a +4 to AC and Reflex, and then gives a misc penalty of -2 to each to bring things to the proper value. It's bizarre and has lasted for ages.

Only thing I can think of with the armor showing +8 is if you've selected Drakescale Armor of Dwarven Vigor rather than normal Scale. (IE, masterwork armor).

Hmmm thats weird about the shield. I don't think it ever was a problem for us before.

So upon further review- its seems that all +2 heavy armors are giving out a random +1 extra point of AC.

I just put together a quick level 4 dwarf fighter with your armor and a non-magic shield. I come up with an AC of 23.

I am not using an updated version of the builder, though, as I have yet to download the latest update. So, barring a feat or magic shield, this is a glitch introduced in the latest CB update.

And I found out its not a glitch.

There are new magic armor rules in the Heroes of the Fallen Lands, that were put into the CB without my knowledge.

Which is fantastic, as I was planning on totally ignoring/banning the Essentials line.

Do you allow the Masterwork Armors from Adventurer's Vault? Because the armor rules in HoFL are statistically the same as those, just without the fancy names.

To me there a difference between an optional rule, and one thats hard wired in.

Now its seemingly impossible for me to give out +2 chainmail that isn't masterwork.

Which for all I know is an intended fix for heavy armor classes AC. But since it was put into Essentials, which I had planned on ignoring, and then out into the CB without explanation, it irks me mighty hard.
