* A human barbarian that isn't from a tribal culture far and away, but is instead a big city slum rat. With a temper. A mean and tough boxer/grappler/knife fighter. PrCs like Invisible Blade or Reaping Mauler from the Complete Warrior may be an option later on.
* A bard that isn't the sing-songs and woo-wenches type, but instead is a down to earth, scolarly historian and archeologist. More focus on knowledge skills and the like than on bluff, slight of hand, etc. Spelunking skills, Speak Language, Decipher Script and Use Magic Device would also all be very handy. Whip and Fadora optional.
* A ranger with various common sentient races as favored enemies, his job? He's a bounty hunter. A wandering lawman.
* Mainly of use if your DM uses the d20 modern style of Toughness, but a sorcerer with a (very) high con, plenty of toughness feats and who focuses his spells on shapeshifting and augmenting himself. He may not know one lick about how to indentify things, but if you need someone to transform into an Umber Hulk and dig a tunnel - he's your guy.
* An elf that doesn't suck. You're on your own for how to pull this one off, however.
* A half-orc rogue who's a whiz at cobbling together the right tool out of the wrong materials. Kind of a junk-yard engineer and alchemist. A whiz with traps and all things mechanical.
