Character Creation Advice: 5th level Rogue

I have a 6th level Rogue and I started with INT 13 in order to get Jack of Trades. True, I missed out on getting that extra +1 on a stat, but getting a +2 bonus on all untrained skills has served me far better in my adventures. And yes, while I won't have a DEX of 20 by 8th level, I have a pretty versatile character, IMO. Just a thought...

I think your stat choices are (unfortunately) pretty good. Even though rogues rely largely on one stat (Dex) there are many others that are useful for the build. That means something has to suffer, and you're finding (like I did) that without an 8 in a stat, you just don't seem to have enough points. Your stat choices are pretty decent, however.

As far as magic items: for level 2, I'd pick acrobat's boots. The "get up from prone as a minor action," is fantastic when it occurs.

Thanks.

Yeah. I think what I may do is put the +1 for level 4 into Con. I don't see myself really hitting level 8 with this character, so the +1 in Dex is really a waste.

I just have this feeling I won't be knocked prone any time soon, since this is just an adventure's worth, and the options are limited as to what the Dm will throw. But, there seems to be no better choice.

Thanks.

And my second response was me clarifying and re-emphasizing my first response. You didn't heed my first response, so I had to repeat myself, in stronger words.

If your first response needed to be clarified, all you needed to do was clarify it - "stronger words" were unnecessary. Heed means: "to give consideration or attention to." I gave consideration and attention to your previous response, acknowledging that a 9 may still be too low for you, in offering the best advice I could.

Glad you got someone to give you the answers you wanted though.
