Character creation ideas

Hey guys, I want to create a toon based of my favorite Bleach character, Ichimaru. I have an overall idea of how I am going to create him, but do you guys have any ideas on what abilities I shoulder consider? Thanks.

I'm mostly unfamiliar with Bleach, other than some of my friends like it and have mentioned a thing or two.

You do need to brace yourself for the reality that Anime and D&D are different genres, and oftentimes an Anime character can display dramatic abilities that a D&D character cannot. The ability to jump very high, or move and attack multiple times faster than an opponent, etc., is not built easily into the D&D mechanics. Anime characters also may be inclined to have supernatural abilities all wrapped into one individual that D&D attribute to vasty different disciplines, such as the ability to fight with a sword, teleport, and attack with beams of energy, for example. It may be challenging to create a D&D character who can encompass all the abilities at all, or all of the abilities and do any of them very well.

With that said, could you provide a link or a few links to information about this Ichimaru character so these of us who are less knowledgeable can help you out?

ok, so I'm looking at the Powers and Abilities section.
-Genius Intellect: This would be represented by a High Intelligence score.
-Master Swordsman Specialist: This is done with a martial class with a full Base Attack Bonus and combat class abilities.
-Immense Spiritual Power: is this like force effects and status effects?
-Shunpo Expert: This might be best represented by an increase to landspeed or a Blur spell effect.
-Enhanced Durability: This would be represented by a high AC, Dexterity or Constitution score.
-Kido Practitioner: This seems to be the ability to wield magic.

What D&D books and resources do you have access to?

Looking at all of this, I'd first suggest you consider the Duskblade class from Players Handbook II. Here is a Link to the Duskblade Handbook for ideas on builds.

Alternately, the Tome of Battle, Book of Nine Swords was D&D's attempt to make more Anima-styled melee fighters in the D&D ruleset. Consider also a Warblade, with handbooks: Warblade Handbook, Another Warblade Handbook, Yet A Third Handbook.

My current character is a thri-kreen monk. +30 Jump, fast movement and flurry of blows. Bingo!

High intellect + master swordsman sounds like Warblade. Can pick feats and maneuvers (speed & AC enhancement can be had from Absolute Steel stance, for instance) to fill out the rest. Could dip Swordsage for some spiritual power. With Int as primary, could even dip wizard for some Kido, although I'd fluff the more abstract maneuvers (like Iron Heart Surge and White Raven Tactics) as kido in nature.

Theone0581, how experienced with D&D are you? Warblade and Swordsage, while great options, are likely to be complicated for a starting player, which is why I recommended Duskblade. Any of those are excellent choices.

kitcik... lol, very nice.

If you go into Tome of Battle, you should take a look at the Bloodstorm blade. It will be about the closest thing to achieving long range while still melee. Then for style, but also major offense boon go into Iajitsu Master.

This will work because ToB is totally anime.

You may think that +30 Jump is a lot because +30 to most skills means almost being able to do some of the ridiculous Epic Skills examples from the ELH, but Epic Jump in D&D is notably unimpressive (compared to swimming up a waterfall or running on water). +30 jump and taking 10 means you can do a 10 foot vertical jump. Sure, that's miles better than anything a normal human can do, beating the High Jump world record by 2 feet (and an Olympic athlete will probably have a minor circumstance bonus from favourable equipment and preparation, the world record probably represents a Natural 20 or close to it on the roll, and the Fosbury Flop probably gives a significant circumstance bonus at the expense of knocking the user prone after its use), but it's nothing compared to what you'd expect from a shounen anime lead. Even a +120 Jump modifier (which is only slightly easier to get than a Balance modifier good enough to let you walk on clouds) only lets you jump ten meters straight up.
