Character Creation Time?

If I die mid-session, I can spend hours vascillating over my next character concept and still have no idea what to do. But once inspirartion strikes, I can fire out a character in 5-10 minutes. Marginally longer for wizards or high level characters with a lot of equipment. Once inspiration strikes, I am a speed demon. Getting to that point is the tricky part.

Wow. I'm surprised how long it takes people.

For me, it's 30 minutes at the most. Usually around 10 to 15 minutes, if even that. Even if I have no idea what I'm going for, I can usually come up with a solid concept during creation.

For me, infinity. The reason is, I'm always looking to tweak them all *somehow*. Dunno how, but I'm always convinced that what I've just created could somehow be better. Thus, ALL my characters are works in progress. Pisses off whoever's the DM to no end.
