Character's Down on Their Luck?

Lord Ravinous

First Post
Has anyone else had the feeling that fate has it in for your characte? My character back in 2e was on a downward spiral on the Constitution roller-coaster? Between dieing in combat, and getting ressurected, and constant bouts with horrible diseases including, but not limited to, Mummy Rot and Necrosis. By the time I had reached the Lotus of Chauntea my Constitution was at 2(I had started with a 13). My problems seemed to cease after consuming the Lotus, but it seemed that fate's sense of humor was quite annoying....

Me and my party were traveling up a mountain of falling rocks where I constantly failed my saves to avoid them and was pummeled to the brink of death with my Regeneration 1/6 the only thing standing in the way of me and the fairyman. But the funny thing was that as soon as my Hp would regenerate back to 1 I would get hit again.

Does this sound familiar?

I know your pain!

We have been swapping between our OA and WOT characters since the start of the year. It seems each session I manage to consistently roll single figures, usually low single figures. My Samurai is unconsious for most combats and can hardly hit when he is awake! In the WOT game the same thing happens! So in the first game session for the game single figures again and I die in the first combat right at the end of the game session. Thanks to my own parties grenade missing and then naturally I failed my saving throw! Lucky for that character next session it was worked out that my AC was higher at one point so my character didn't actually die. Let's see if my luck changes tomorrow night. Changing dice doesn't help!!

This is gonna sound weird and hokey, but I roll on my PHB, I can usually role above a 13 all the time on it, with the occasional exceptions. For instance, last night my Character was performing at the local inn, if your curious he sings dwarven drinking songs, and I rolled two 18's in a row and then after that I rolled two 16's in a row, needless to say i made a nice spot of cash that night. But anyways, give the ol' Handbook a few tries, and if that dont work, keep changing your surface around till it's to you preference.

Also, don't ever, and I mean EVER let anybody touch your d20. It's a very sensitive piece of equipment and must not me tampered with by the likes of other players or even the DM.

I know what you mean one of my players had a 6th level dwarven cleric who died in a fight with a 1st level warior bugbear, the cleric at full HP(aprox. 60) the bugbear at 7 (had recieved a hit from another player) After about 10 rounds the cleric was dead and the bugbear lived, for a short while.
That was one long run of bad dice rolls on the players behalf.

W once had a second edition psionicist in our campaign whose unluck with the dice was legendary. One time he needed to roll a 13 or better on a d20 to activate a power. It took him 46 rolls and two nights of rest on his character's part due to all the burned points.
