Oh... now this has got my mind all fired up.
Near-future Sci-fi RPG.
The Internet 3.0, also known as "The Kingdom of webs"
3d graphic user interface. Large clusters are arranged like cities, with similar information sharing space on vast neon-ivory towers. People jack themselves into the kingdom, where it is often every person for themselves. Some anonymous viewers float by, little more than beads of barely-visible data, but the more adept and aggressive started building Avatar programs, and taking advantage of their maneuverability, using tools to /attack and /kill other users (by booting them from the kingdom)
The heroes are freelance network security reps. They move through large sectors finding hostile applications and taking them off line, permanently.
Hero classes include the codebreaker, whose mighty tools break through the meager defenses of his foes, The boardmaster, whose skills lay in manipulating and controlling message traffic, and the Recoverist, whose packet-cleaning abilities can fix damaged sectors with ease.
weapons include the Banhammer, ICE pick, and instant firewall.
enemies include the 1337, a subset of humanity who equate their own self-worth with how many sites they can destroy, retroviruses manifest as great hulking beasts who spread their infectious plage. Worms chew through mail messages, tearing apart whole mail servers...
