Cheap Monte Cook's AU and IH pdfs

I was surprised to see Arcana Unearthed and Iron Heroes priced at $5 on enworld.rpgnow.com. They are significantly higher on drivethrurpg. I didn't hear any anouncements about a sale and I don't hang out at Monte's website regularly but I noticed these when I picked up AE Spell treasury which is also reduced down to $5.

I just wished I hadn't previously bought both of them at the higher prices.

If you were considering picking them up, I'd recommend grabbing them at these prices.

A reduced price for AU I can understand since it's basically superceded by Arcana Evolved. That's a nice price for IH though.

I was impressed by the dead tree version of the book... good if you want a low magic or no magic campaign but still like the high fantasy power level...

I would say so, I paid $14 for it as a pdf. It is an alternate PH for high fantasy low magic combat centric D&D.

The power level is designed the same as regular D&D but the power that characters would have from magic items at the default wealth levels is instead placed in character abilities. You can use standard monsters against them, though there are fewer ways to undo ability damage and other crippling supernatural effects.

Almost all classes are fighting style classes with more combat options, usually using token mechanics on a per encounter basis instead of on a per day basis. Lots of effects can be done using skill rolls to pull off "stunts". Many options require triggering effects before being used such as aiming or being attacked first so you can't just do the equivalent of firing your highest level spell first, you have to set up the specific conditions for your fighting style to get them to work.

Its like a lot of options similar to power attack and combat expertise where you make judgment calls of your mechanical combat tactical options.

It also has a ton of neat feat chains appropriate to be used by fighters.

Aww, just saw this post now. Looks like the sale's over, as it now says $14 for IH. Oh well, I generally prefer having the book itself anyway. Still, opportunity missed. -_-

Isn't there a new edition coming out since the IP was sold? Or was that a rumor (that I'm now cruelly perpetuating)?
