Wow. I like how the Ankholian Undead breathes on other undead to give them the same template. That could really make things ugly in a hurry.

But the Daemon Warrior, that's just wicked looking.

And don't you just love how over half the monsters in the book are either things you've never heard or read about before, or are completely different to how you remember them?

That's my work.

When we sat down to put this book together, we had a simple design goal - if readers didn't constantly refer back to the cover to make sure the Dragonlance logo was still there, we hadn't done our job.

If a monster didn't make readers wonder if they weren't just reading another Forgotten Realms supplement, it wasn't going in the book.

And I've gotta say we're fairly proud of the job we did.

We hope you like it.

*Every* gaming company aspires to release products with the production values of the FR books. The fact that the DL Bestiary is in that league is quite the compliment.

And if you don't know where those creatures came from (only one of them is an original creation), well, then maybe you need to brush up on your knowledge of DL. ;)

Oh it's not the production values - it's that whole throw-a-few-fantasy-archetypes-together-and-give-it-a-backstory FR vibe we managed to capture. But I'm glad you liked it.

I don't know about you, but everyone here at WotC stopped reading Dragonlance novels back when everything started getting wierd. The Age of Mortals?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?

Weird sarcastic comments notwithstanding, I liked what I saw in this preview. The idea of the Noble draconians is a great one! I never stopped to consider what would happen if someone tried the draconian creation process on evil dragon eggs. Likewise, if I had, I'd have thought they'd be even worse draconians. This seems more like the old "negative times negative equals positive" approach.

The daemon warrior is cool also, being one of the most iconic minions of Chaos. The only thing I find odd is that they speak Infernal and not Abyssal.

Speaking of Chaos, I hope we get a DL gods book where more info on him and the High God are given...hopefully minus some of the rhetoric and obscurity DL likes in regards to its deities (in other words, I wouldn't mind seeing divine ranks, if WotC lets them use them, and maybe stats, though I know virtually everyone else will disagree with me on that).

Supposedly a DL book of deities and their followers is scheduled for release next year I believe, titled Holy Orders of the Stars.

I received the following note from Peter Archer at Wizards of the Coast HQ:

"Please be aware that James Snoweel has no connection whatsoever with Wizards of the Coast or the Dragonlance brand. He has not worked on any of our products and is in no way a spokesperson for our company or for any of our licensees.

Peter Archer
Brand Manager, Associate Publisher
Wizards of the Coast Book Publishing"

I would like to add that this individual has no connection whatsoever to Sovereign Press and has never participated in the creation of any Dragonlance game products. Note from his profile he also claims to be a "Supreme Court Judge."

Thanks!

Vice President

I figured the B&M mode of the snoweel guy would indicate that he was being a smart ass, just from the first post alone.

Peter Archer, Jamie Chambers, and WotC and Sovereign Press folks in general -- Snoweel has a two week ban from EN World. I think of it as a gentle way of saying "thanks" for generating the confusion; sort of like a Hallmark card, only with a little more vitriol attached. If additional trouble pops up, please let me (or another admin) know.
