I used to play chess alot, though my rating maxed out at 1800+. It's been years since I played competatively, though.

Id like to play more because Id imagine it would make me a more disciplined and intelligent thinker. There is a chess club in my city but Id like to know more about the rating system if somebody could fill me in Id appreciate it.

Oooh, I've wanted to try Knightmare Chess for a good long while. One of these days...

A brilliant game! You should definitely play it if you get the chance. You might want to try Knightmare Chess 2 as well.

Another chess variant that's more tactical but less whimsical than Knightmare is Cirondo. It uses a round chess board.

I have a lovely gothic chess set by Ganine as well as a classic Staunton one.
