Chicago Area FLGS

FYI, for me it would be a two hour round-trip without factoring traffic. I'm trusting you all that this will blow my socks off! ;)

Not wanting to burst your bubble, but you will learn soon enough that everywhere in Chicago will be a two-hour round trip. :)

Pretty much.

Also, which south suburb are you in? Is it like the true south like Homewood, or the psuedo south like Orland Park?

At any rate, Games Plus is well worth the trip, and it takes me a healthy 30-45 minutes.

It's true south like Homewood, only further south.

Nope, keep going.

Yeah, I'm in Crete.

I'm not entirely sure Crete is a actually a suburb of anything, but if it's not, I'm close enough to communities that are to say close enough.

Hey, I'm just a short drive east of the last Metra stop on the southern leg!! That officially makes me part of "Chicagoland" right?? ;)

I'll add that Games Plus is a great store and that they have a fantastic stock, good variety and many leagues such as Mage Knight, Pokemon and Her oCLicks.

Games Plus is, IMHO, the best gaming store in the Chicago area. There is ample room for games, and an INCREDIBLE selection. The staff is friendly. Games Plus, by the way, has hosted all of the Chicago EN World Game Days. The Game Days are not only a blast, but a great way to meet people on the boards. (A few come from beyond the Chicago area. Boston, Detroit, and Madison are NOT Chicago suburbs.)

Crete is a suburb. I know, I used to work at one of the local suburban newspaper chains in the South and Southwest Suburbs.

I think there might be a hobby shop or comic shop in Homewood for something closer to Crete.

Here are some more shops to check out in different parts of the area.

Game Kingdom, on 31st Street near Wallace, is a good comic shop that sells RPGs. I know the owner, and the small Mexican restaurant next door is quite good. A good place to visit before or after a White Sox game. (I also know most of the good restaurants in the area.)

If you visit Oak Park, Hobbymodels USA is a good shop to visit. They have a good selection (not as good as Games Plus, I think).

Welcome to Chicagoland, 3d6+15!!

Where was my head last night?!?!? Yes, there are the ENWorld Chicago Gamedays hosted at Games Plus! They're a great chance to meet up with everyone and play some games you may not normally get to try. We're thinking late October or early November for the next one - I'll be holding a vote in September to nail down a date.

Hope to see you and some of your crew there, 3d6+15!!!

Later,
Matt

Thanks again for all the replies.

I'm convinced! I'm bringing "the crew" out there tonight after work to check the place out.

If your in the joliet area there is tLeisure Hours Hobbies by the Luis joliet mall on Rt. 30. Decent place with no problems [i just really hold old grudges ;). Gamers paradice are OK. There is also a Warhammer / paintball dedicated store named Challenge games on jefferson.

Those Wotc stores may not be there nowadays. just doublecheck by phone if they are there and what they carry.
