I don't think there is any rush.

There's no question that you are correct, but I'm the hasty Ent remember?

BTW, I'm pleased that this thread has become a forum for pizza lovers to discuss which toppings are tasty and which are just plain bad. And FCWesel has made a fine suggestion for how we might use the time between now and the Gameday Event.

I hoping Buzz will chime in as our fearless leader and give us some topics for discussion that he'd like to see badied about by the gameday masses. :)

Ah, Fearless Leader!

First off, I definitely think we can wait a bit before starting the sign-up thread.

Second off, are we really talking about having pizza delivered to Gameday? I luvz me some pizza, but who ends up paying for it?

Third off, any further commentary on the idea of giving GMs first crack at prizes is welcome.

Fourth off, we're full-up as far as the usual number of events is concerned. How do people feel about adding more events? thalmin, how many tables would we have to work with? Would it get too crowded and noisy with more than six events per slot?

My feeling is that, no matter how cool the events are, we seem to wind up merging an event or two come Gameday. We have been averaging about 35-40 people the last few Gamedays, which is just barely enough to fill six events per slot... and remember that not all of the attendees even stay for both slots. I guess the question is, is attendance dependent on the events being offered (i.e., the number of attendees relates to the number of available seats in compelling events), or do we see roughly the same amount of people no matter what events are offered?

Ergo, I'm hesitant to go nuts adding more events simply becasue we have a lot of lead time for planning. Granted, as long as GMs are happy to show up and have fun regardless of whether their event fills up, it's a moot point; we can offer as many events as we want. I'm just sayin'. I hate to see GMs invest a lot of effort prepping a great game just to have no one sign up for it.

Anyway...

Fifth off, any further comments on ways to make Gameday more fun or better run are welcome.

sounds great Fearless Leader!

I have mentioned the event to a couple others and now that i got the actual date i may be able to lure them into signing up for some events, COC is a great lure!

and FCWesel, all i can say is SERENETY NOW, SERENITY NOW.

Whoever orders pizza pays for their own. I was not envisioning "one big honkin' pizza order" for the entire gameday. I was imagining a more intimate arrangement, where each small group who wanted pizza would order and pay for their own pizza. They could, of course, coordinate with each other, but it would not be any sort of official Gameday function to organize a single pizza order. Unless you don't already have enough to do on a Gameday and you're volunteering, Buzz! ;)

You know, the cool people would get together and order some of that anchovy/feta pizza concoction. And some of the fun people would get together and order some fun pizza (maybe with little multi-colored sprinkles on top). And the traditionalists would get together and order a pepperoni pizza.

And, if I like the DM from my morning game, I'd buy him a slice or two. Hope he doesn't mind anchovy/feta pizza! :]

A suggestion would be to contact one of the local pizza joints and see if we can get a group discount. Each group would still order their own pizzas, but pizza joint (hopefully) would give all orders coming from GP a discount.
Having worked at a number of pizza joints in the past, I have seen something like this done several times. Usually a 10% - 15% discount or a flat $xx off each pizza.

Just a thought. :)

That's pretty much what I was thinking too...

If you played in my game, I'm the wouldn't mind anchovies... :uhoh: ;)

Buzz:
1. No need to post the sign up thread now...it's just me being hasty as usual.
2. I'm with Barendd and Pbartender -- each group (whether by game session or other affiliation) orders their own and pays accordingly. As Reidzilla suggests, contacting a pizza joint or two in advance to arrange for a discount makes tons of sense. Plus they will appreciate the notice on preparing what may be a fairly large order.
3. I'm all for the suggestion of giving GM's first crack at the prizes. I was surprised this hadn't been done previously, since it was customary at other gameday events I've attended.
4. FWIW, I'd let demand dictate the number of games per time slot, but no more than seven or eight. If all six games in each slot really fill up rapidly, then maybe we add an extra game or two this time around. That said, I also respect the desire to avoid games with only a few players as that SUCKS! for the DM. I'm sure you can get a better read on this in the next few weeks.
5. Offer free teleport spells to those traveling more than 100 miles to attend. ;)

Kent:
Don't allow others to tempt you away from CoC with offers to accept fishy-feta pizza. It might upset some of the great Old Ones or other galactic nasties.

Even if I don't play in your game, I can spot you a piece of pizza or two! Whatever I play, there will be fish-fetish-feta pizza for Pbartender, me, and anyone else who wants it! But, uh, everyone else has to pay for their own except for Pbartener & my DMs. :)

What, me not play Shadow Over Illinoismouth at the Gameday?! Never! Assuming I don't miss the sign-up, I will play in your CoC game. And, afterwards, we can watch everyone else lose 1/1d6 SAN when we eat fish pizza. :p
