Chris Pramas and his thoughts on GSL

Yup makes perfect sense. While I wouldn't have minded some 4e GR goodies, I completely understand their choices.

Good luck with the other games.

This = me. I'd have loved to see GR 4E books, maybe even to work on some, but I cannot fault Chris's reasoning. And of course, I'd much prefer to see him work on stuff he's psyched about.

They're not opening up the IP, but my understanding is that they're going to create a special license so that you can actually say "compatible with Pathfinder" (or something to that extent) on products.

What he said. Paizo is releasing the system under the OGL, but the OGL does not allow for indicating compatability. That's what the D20 license did, as well as the True20 license, Mongoose RuneQuest, Mongoose Traveller, Mongoose Battlefiend Evolution, and Grey Ghost Fudge licenses continue to do.

GSL is a totally different license in the way it operates.

I'm looking forward to hearing CP's thoughts on the Pathfinder License once its been made public.

Me too. But, at this point, if they are not passionate about making Pathfinder stuff either, then I'd rather they NOT do anything for that system.

Edit - of course, that's pretty easy for me to say since I already have 70+ Green Ronin products that are usable with Pathfinder. ;)

(Woohoo!)

I'm chomping at the bit to see that final License, myself -- we've been kicking around a bunch of very nifty Pathfinder-related concepts here at Adamant, and hope that we get the opportunity to produce materials which we hope are even half as well-received as Green Ronin's d20 products were.

I'd like to weigh in and support any and all Green Roning and/or Adamant Entertainment products for Pathfinder or 3rd edtion, and compatible with pathfinder (assuming it truly is "backward compatible").

If not, GO PATHFINDER!

With M&M and Songs of Fire and Ice that's good enough for me. GR gets my money no matter what they do because whatever they do is going to be really good. :D

That's the bottom line for me (and I think it should be, and from the look of things largely is, for others too). I like 3.5, 4E and some of the former's OGL derivatives (including some published by Green Ronin), all for different reasons.

I just want there to be good gaming products for systems I like, or at the very least, understand. Any route Chris and GR could realistically have taken would have almost certainly led to that; it's pretty much win-win from where I sit. This being the case, far better that he work on what he can get excited about, provided it also makes enough money to keep GR in business.

While I understand the reasoning and respect him for it, I feel bad that I won't be supporting his company since I'm only buying 4E products from here on out. I wish him luck...
