I wonder if Pramas ever gets tired of being asked about D&D instead of Green Ronin stuff.

Well, he used to work with WotC, and the majority of Green Ronin's products utilize(d) eitherthe D20 or OGL licenses, from what I understand. So I think it's natural that people would ask him about it.

One of the only ones I know of that uses its own system is Dragonfist which as been "coming" for like 6 years now.

I thought their D20 products were *excellent*, and anybody I know who knows Green Ronin knows them *because* of their D20 products. I'm not sure how successful branching away from D20 will make them. I hope they don't fold.....but most gamers I know are D20 gamers, and don't vary from that system very often.

And what's going to happen if 4E comes out, and it's also supported by D20/OGL licenses? Are Green Ronin and all these other companies going to jump back onto the bandwagon again?

(I talked to Piratecat and am editing with his permission.)

First off, nothing but respect for Pramas, and I've been salivating over the next iteration of Freeport from the moment he announced it here.

But the notion that someone would pay more attention to someone's -- anyone's -- comments because they're negative is a popular Internet meme I strongly disagree with. It's not hard to be negative -- pretty much everyone goes through about six years of this when they're a teenager -- and negativity doesn't imply special knowledge, understanding or wisdom in a given situation. If it did, the country would be run by 16-year-olds.

Pramas should be listened to because of his credentials, not because he's got a downbeat view on D&D's future at times.

Green Ronin is still doing d20 stuff, just not as much. They have the Bleeding Edge line of adventures and Chris mentioned in the interview there was going to be a d20 Freeport Companion as well. If 4E is open, it'll be interesting to see which companies decide to support it.

Ironic you pointed out the one product that haven't been relaunched yet.

What about that other game? Spaceship Zero (or is it Starship Zero)?

As much as I love what Chris Pramas is doing with Green Ronin so far, I have a vibe that he's sick and tired of d20/OGL as White Wolf and AEG folks are.

Howdy All,

I'm Brian, the host (well, co-host) of the 2d6 Feet in a Random Direction podcast. Glad folks found the episode and discussion / interview with Chris Pramas to be interesting (and, of course, thanks for listening).

I can't address that generally, but I can address it specifically for my podcast: Chris Pramas asked to come on the show to discuss the whole rpg business and D&D 4th speculation. He had heard the prior episode, and was interesting in carrying on the discussion.

We actually enjoy asking Chris about Green Ronin, as we did in both episode 16 and in episode 7 (parts one and two).

We enjoyed having Chris Pramas on our show, especially as a returning guest, and I think we did a very good job of pumping him for Green Ronin news aplenty before taking the discussion elsewhere.

Again, thanks for listening to the show!

Brian, welcome to ENWorld.

I found your podcast earlier this week as it was recommended somewhere else, perhaps at one of the Wizards D&D podcasts. Anyway, I listened to most of them and it rocks! The two interviews with Chris Pramas were really good. I hope you're considering bringing more guests in the near future.

Thanks much for listening! That explains who one of our six listeners in Rio De Janeiro is. ;) If my analytics application is to believed...

As far as guests go, we do plan to have more folks on - we've gotten some interest from a good-cross section of the gaming industry, and are looking forward to delivering many more episodes.

Finally listened to my first podcast. An interesting interview, certainly. Side note: never, ever heard anyone before pronounce 'Ronin' as 'Roneen'; I've always heard it pronounced as rhymes with 'phone-in'.
