Chrono Trigger Style Game

Chrono Trigger? Geez, that brings back memories....

For those of you who are familiar with the setting, I ran a GURPS IOU game for about 2 1/2 years. One of the characters was Janus (aka Magus). He attended IOU for the magical training. He started with Magery 3, but no known spells (he was there to learn how to use his talents, after all). It was a lot of fun, and since I didn't bother trying to keep them in the Chrono-trigger plotline, all sorts of strange things happened.

His goal was to destroy Lavos, but he decided to re-create Zeal to do it. He hunted down the Gurus and got them to join him. He started studying some hard core necromancy, and had legions of zombies working for him. Then he started importing tech from other more advanced dimensions. It was wild.

How about simply treat the spell as Energy Admixtured (Tome and Blood) and +2 DC per person there, maximum of 3? Perhaps subtract 1/4 or 1/3 damage from what a single blast would do without help to help keep it balanced a little, and limit it to a few times a day, and if one of them is hit and fails a concentration check, the whole thing fails...otherwise i'd get out of hand quickly.

You may be on to something here... perhaps a pair of feats (Doble Tech, Triple Tech) that work similar to Tandem Fighting. where if both people have the feat they can combine effects the same way energy admixture mixes energy types... it's doable.
