Ozone is like chlorine - it oxidizes with lots of things.
The affordable equivalent would be peroxide. It might bleach out the paint jobs, but it might get the smell...

I caught my druid minis smoking dope once. Laid down the law on that.
I would do the baking soda method next. Put the minis in one of those plastic shoe boxes then bury them in the baking soda. Leave it a week at least. Time is on your side. Then rinse them off and see if the smell lingers.
If you are worried about the paint coming off the minis, I can bury one of mine in baking soda and report back in a week. Let me know.

Somehow I doubt baking soda or even the most brutal dishwashers will make a dent in the paint. Getting the paint off DDM was tried when the line first came out with few successes by mini painters. To my knowledge, most just paint over the original paint because it is such a hassle to remove.
Goof Off was the one of the few product i know of that could remove DDM paint with any reliability without also ruining the plastic

If you're still working on this, try soaking the minis in acetone. This will strip off the paint, or at least damage it. But if the smoke is in the paint, and the minis aren't well painted, it should strip the paint off. Agitate from time to time by shaking. Don't leave for more than overnight if any of the base plastic is exposed.
The other thing you can try is TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) which you should be able to find fairly cheaply at any hardware store. When I had to clean smoke from an apartment, it cut right through the staining on the paint. I just watched as the yellow gunk ran down the walls. Mix the TSP powder into water, wait a couple minutes, add your mini(s). Stir/shake every 10 minutes or so. Rinse off with clean water. If that doesn't work, go to acetone or consign to the dustbin.
