My group generally runs on the houserule that you can't take more HP from something than it has to give, so those must be some EPIC chickens.

So do I, otherwise you'd be getting more than 150 HP. If the chickens had 2 HP apiece, you'd get 1 HP from the chicken and 15 HP from Grim Harvest, so 160 total for ten chickens.

Yeah, circle of death aint what it used to be.... (from AD&D and so on)

It does seem a bit weak that it can only kill 5 goblins on average. Used to be 44.

Indeed, sadly, 5e's version of the classic Death Spell is but a shadow of its previous incarnations.

That's why I still use spell descriptions from earlier levels and ignore concentration. But I am a 2E/3E player at heart.
